I'd be interested in hearing the reasoning behind why you think that? PFF (for whatever that is worth) had him ranked 3rd among DTs against the run before injury. The guy also had 4 sacks in 11 games, which isnt bad at all for a guy getting most his snaps as a 3-4 NT.

I just dont see the concern other than
1) he is coming off a season ending surgery
2) the Panthers as a team last year had a poor rush defense

The danger of putting up team results to show a particular player is playing well or not playing well.

Too many factors involved to just judge a player by the overall team success.

We would be taking the Panthers starting DT's from last year, McCoy & Poe. Anybody know how the Panthers did against the run last year?

They allowed 5.2 yards per carry, worst in the NFL.

Ickes was wrong about them not being a 3-4. They switched last year but also played 4-3 which most teams do in nickel anyway.

Any time that I see "Team X is close to signing a deal with Player Y", I know that this was leaked by the agent for the player in an attempt to get another team to enter the bidding and drive the price up.

I'll wait until an actual SIGNING is announced before I get interested.

Again, it's not the wisest move to look at team results and then judge a player. Way too many factors go into team play. Maybe Poe really fell off a cliff........... or maybe a combination of factors made the Panthers suck on D.
