This would be stupid.

Agreed. It would be best to line both of these up inside next to each other at tackle. Unless we're playing a version of the Phillips 3-4, it would be a waste to have them two-gapping.

Different scheme. They rotated a lot there . Plus when Poe missed 5 games they gave up an extra 50 yards a game in the run game. PLUS it would be an upgrade over what we had here last year.

They can’t realistically expect to pay much less. Even if they wish it to be so. Clowney asking for 18.5M, Quinn signing for way too much. Griffin would be a bargain at 12M compared to the other asking prices. The draft is pretty thin place to rely on for an end too.
I agree, if we can get him for 12m and cut Crawford and get that 8m - I’m all in.

Why? He’s second year! He probably won’t be a difference maker, but he COULD become a decent backup. Give him another year. PATIENCE.
I still have hope also. Hill can come in on pass rushing downs. I believe Hill will show something with the coaching change.

You realize we do need depth, I doubt Crawford is going anywhere considering he can play every position. Someone will get hurt.

I hope we are transitioning to a 4-3 under. Keeping Crawford (at a lower cost) makes sense as an oversized SDE and then draft an athletic SAM LB that can both rush and play off the ball like Chaisson/Baun. Good mix of 4-3 and 3-4. In the nickel/obvious passing downs Poe comes off, Crawford slides inside and the pass rushing SAM puts his hand down.

Think Legion of Boom Seattle D Line/LB. The underrated part of that D that didn’t get enough credit:
DLine= Avril(DLaw), McDaniel(McCoy), Mebane(Poe), Bennet(Crawford)
LB= KJ Wright(LVE), Wagner(Smith), Irvin(? Draft pick)

**note: not saying we are equal in talent or will have the results, just comparing scheme wise.

Poe had 4 sacks in 15 tackles playing only 10 games. He is not injury prone as this was the only year he did not have +15/16 games played.

To say the +345 pounder, with speed and athleticism that has actually scored offensive TDs is an upgrade is not giving Poe his due.

Since we are raiding the Panthers defensive line, sign Eric Reid who had 130 tackles, 4 sacks, and a FF from his Strong Safety position. It seems that one the offensive player got past Poe and McCoy only Eric Reid played defense to stop the opposing offense.

We need 2 more DTs, Eric Reid/type Safety, and I will say that this defense will be better than last year.

He is also great to have as a lead blocker in goal lone formations. Haven’t seen that mentioned. Put him in front of Zeke running to the right behind Martin. Guaranteed touchdown every time

Are they expecting Lawrence to be an OLB?

I see this being more like Pete Carroll's 2012-2013 4-3 when they had Chris Clemons as the only TRUE 4-3 DE on their 4-man line. Their DL looked like this:

DE - Clemons (255lbs.)
DT - Alan Branch/Tony McDaniel (310+lbs.)
DT - Brandon MeBane (310+lbs.)
DE - Red Bryant (310+lbs.)

Bruce Irvin was their pass-rush specialist

I had lunch with him once, he thinks Garrett sucks too.;)

About 5 years ago, and I sore never to tell anyone about this, I was abducted by Aliens. I was taken to their ship. Received a full Alien-physical. Afterward the Alien doctor brought me the results. While we were small talking the Alien confided in me that he too believes Garrett sucks.

Transition to 34??

I dont see that at all. Lawrence is their best player and he is clearly a 43 end.

McCoy is also a 43 tackle.

Maybe Poe is closer to a NT, but are they really switching schemes and building around him??

They may want to show that look, and attempting to confuse the opposition may be a nice change, but a full switch....no way.
