Detroit tried to pull a Madden type trade on us. There had to be laughing in the war room.

He wasn't worth what Detroit wanted. They must think that we are as crazy as they are.
I must admit, I've never fallen into an anger-induced coma before. Jerruh agreeing to that deal would have just about done it.skinsscalper;1492753 said:This is pretty much old news. It was originally reported that they wanted Ware, our first this year AND our first next year IIRC.

As great as Ware is, he's replaceable...if one really believed Calvin Johnson may be the best WR ever, or even one of the best, I make that swap.
But I know Detroit wasn't interested in a straight up swap either.
SultanOfSix;1493046 said:Why? Asking for Ware made it a joke.
Matt: Hi Jerry. We'll give you Johnson for your first, second, third, and fourth pick, plus your best defensive player - Ware - for "possibly" the greatest wide receiver ever, but maybe not.
JJ: Yeah, um, ok.
abersonc;1493236 said:Intelligent people discuss all the options presented to them. Was that a good deal? No. But it was a starting point for discussing trade parameters.
SultanOfSix;1493258 said:Actually, the initial deal that was proposed was a first, second, third and fourth for the #2 pick.
Millen said thrown in Ware and you got a deal. That's when it became laughable.
abersonc;1493264 said:That's called negotiation - would you have done it for less than Ware? For Carpenter? For Canty?
Those are all issues that the team needed to discuss -- and you don't do that if you just hang up the phone and start laughing.
SultanOfSix;1493269 said:So what's your point? That they didn't do exactly what you were afraid of, except possibly laugh when Millen said you have to throw in Ware?
abersonc;1493284 said:Same point I've been making -- all offers need to be discussed seriously. Folks who were saying "I hope he laughed in their face" etc. are being stupid. Silly posturing like that doesn't do any good. Smart teams discuss every possible angle.
