I have nothing against Washington and he has been a productive, useful player....He is on the wrong side of 30?
Honestly thats the reason no one wanted to bring in Dwight Freeny last year. Imagine if we had of brought him in. Would have been a much different season, particularly game against GB. Just saying

Sure, maybe. For me, l have never been too big on aging FA's. They seldom work out, and unless they are dirt cheap, hurt the club in the long run. In recent yrs, the Cowboys have drafted their way to the position they find themselves in now. I like what the Patriots did in the off season. Grab a few players just heading into their best years. Manage the salary cap and keep it under control. An older player is OK at the right time and the right player...maybe next off season...maybe.

Clearly Washington is targeting Dallas who just unlocked considerable salary cap money. He refused Arizona min vet offer. Considering he hasn't played in 3-4 years I am not sure he can get more than vet min offer (I believe its around 800k) on 1 year deal. Apparently he has been working out at local gym. Does Jerry/Jason have the stones to bring him in for look after multi-player suspensions recently.

The Cardinals still had him under contract for $3 million, but they had already moved on. Karlos Dansby 04/2, Deone Buchanon 14/1, and Haason Reddick 17/1 are their inside linebackers.

they meet with Washington after the draft when they learned he would be reinstated. It was a face-to-face meeting as they were only communicating with his agent during suspension and wanted to see his mental/physical condition in person. Of course Arizona was not going to pay $3 million and he would be released from that contract. But they did offer a 1 year deal for Vet Min ($775 k). He refused.

Looks like he may not be playing this year if he is refusing vet min

He would prefer vet min with the Cowboys over vet min with AZ. He said he can see the Cowboys stadium from his house.

So many fans are sitting here saying: "Can't hurt. Get him cheap and give him a shot".

However, if Dallas did and he played well in 2017 - and then did something dumb, getting suspended in 2018 - the fan base would be roasting the Cowboys for bringing in a guy that can't be trusted.

How many of the people saying give him a shot would also complain next year in the above scenario?

My guess is a whole **** load of them.

The problem isn't the money spent... it is what happens if he's still very good? Do you rely on him? Do you not? Will he be here the next season? Do you draft a LB or not? Will he effect the locker room in a negative way? Will he help it in a positive way? If so, what happens when he gets suspended again?

It simply isn't worth the effort and the time spent with him.

I learned a valuable lesson with McClain.

He plays well and makes the team, you hope he plays through the whole season without a slip up than let him walk in '18. Hopefully someone pays big and the team scores a comp pick out of it or at least uses it to offset another signing.
