I honestly can’t see Bill Belechick, a coach who has had complete control of everything in his time in NE, to suddenly at aged 72 decide he’s ok giving up 50% of his power. I just don’t see that happening. He could have a ton more freedom in other destinations and still “get the record”. Btw….I don't want any HC who is here so he can achieve a record. We need a HC driven to win a SB.

On top of all that, as much as I respect Belechick, I also think at 72 the game has passed him by. I revered Tom Landry back in the day, but when he was fired back in 1989, he was 64 and the game has passed him too. It happens to all the greats.

I never thought about this record thing now until you guys mentioned it, wow!!! I'm not sure how you are on someone that's younger, but I surely am tired of guys that have been here before or will be yes men

Jerry won’t hire a guy who isn’t a yes man.

Which is another reason I can’t see Bill B here. Belechick clashed with his old boss, pats owner Robert Kraft when they disagreed. Kraft used to be more like JJ but Belechick was able to win that power struggle with his playoff wins as collateral. And eventually Belechick was running the organization as a shadow GM.

Again, I just can’t see a guy who has fought like a pit bull with his previous owner to have control to suddenly say ok to Jerry Jones and his loose lipped relationship with the press. Belechick would rather say, “On to Cincinnati” than share anything with the press. So all of a sudden he’s going to be just fine sitting on a stage with Jerry and his fat giggling son at training camp next July while Jerry talks about cricket butts and holes of glory? I could be wrong of course but I just can’t see it.

Jerry Jones seems to think that being the HC of the Dallas Cowboys is a privilege and an honor….something people would line up for.

Meanwhile it’s constant meddling from an 80 something billionaire narcissist and the son who can’t seem to manage the cap well enough to sign a major free agent in a decade and a half.

Then….even if you prevail at the highest level, don’t you even think about trying to grab that trophy from Roger, or taking any “credit” whatsoever for being the reason behind it.

Yeah I think I’d go elsewhere unless I have no other options, which probably explains why the hires are guys that either aren’t qualified or a simply thankful for a final payday.

If Belichick comes here it’ll be a neutered version that only wants the regular season win record. Seems as if some of you think he would come in here and be some mean dude and therefore all the dumb pre-snap penalties will end, and Jerry will shut up and it will actually seem like an actual football team for a while. I don’t see it that way as long as PT is doing his thing.

The Cowboys might be getting a sneak peek at their next head coach when the Lions come to Dallas on Sunday. Week 6 doesn’t just offer a matchup of NFC playoff hopefuls, but it also delivers them a firsthand audition of the hottest coordinator in the NFL.

Ben Johnson, Detroit’s highly productive offensive coordinator, has fast become one of the most respected offensive minds in the NFL. He’s also a coveted head coach candidate who will likely headline a 2025 list of coaching prospects that includes the likes of Bill Belichick, Bobby Slowik and Mike Vrabel.

It’s safe to say the Joneses have a pretty good idea what the future hold for McCarthy. They likely have their eyes on a few possible replacements this season and it’s a pretty safe bet Johnson is one of those. On Sunday afternoon they get a firsthand look at that candidate, all from the comfort of the owner’s suite. It’s a perfect opportunity to see what all the fuss is about.

I can’t see Jerry hiring him. If Jerrah goes young it will be the return of Kellen “Paper Boy” Moore. We gonna get either Zimmer or Belicheck and you will like it.

I don’t want Bill but I think he’s desperate and would take it just like Parcells did. It wouldn’t last long though.

The only Ben Johnson that would consider coming to this mess of a franchise is Ben Johnson, the famed Canadian sprinter who was busted for steroids in the 1988 Seoul Olympics

If the Cowboys want a modern Offensive HC, he is their guy, but they rather go the experienced route rather another Garrett who had growing pains learning on the job.

But can your EXPERIENCED hire ( former defensive coor ) bring in a modern offensive coordinator? See Dan Q and the Commanders

Why would an up and coming HC come to Dallas?

Jethro only attracts retreads and retirees who’s phones aren’t ringing.
No, he only attracts candidates who are willing to get on their knees and kiss his butt.
