Cowboys | Could have interest in M. Jones
Tue, 21 Apr 2009 10:17:28 -0700

Bob Glauber, of Newsday, reports the Dallas Cowboys are interested in free-agent WR Matt Jones (Jaguars) as a possibility, but only after the NFL determines whether he will face additional sanctions as a result of his parole violation.

this is old news thats been regurgitated, and has absolutely no chance of happening...I dont know why you drum it up every couple of weeks

Jones is going to get suspended, maybe for a whole yr...we're not signing him and even if it werent for the drugs, would probably little if any interest

I hope not! If the plan is to see what Austin can do or to get younger at WR then just go forward with that. I'm not opposed to drafting a WR at all but to sign a 1st round dud with a drug issue? Gimme a break. He hasn't even shown half the flashes Pacman and Tank Johnson showed in their careers pre-Dallas.
And the chance taken on T.O. isn't even a comparison since Owens has no legal issues and is a Hall of Fame producer.

Pass on this guy Jerry.

Not this again?

There is no chance in hell!

Good! I could care less about his past. I just want to win and if he can help sign him, especially since his contract will be cap friendly. If he fails cut him and it doesnt cost anything.

This just in.....

Cowboys could not have interest in WR Matt Jones

This comes shortly after reports that claimed the Dallas Cowboys Could have interest in WR Matt Jones...

Who would have thought that the Dallas Cowboys bringing in Matt Jones "may or may not" be a possibility?

dont shoot the poster, im just posting what i came across on www.kffl.com on nfl news, then team notebooks

I know I'm in the minority and don't blame people for not wanting him after the drug issue, but I think the Cowboys should look at any and all options.

I'm a firm believer in the benefits of getting 'something for nothing' at the NFL level.

Looking at our current #1 receiver, I see a lot of similarities between he and Jones.

And Roy Williams had more catches than Jones' 65 last season exactly once - in 2006. And Jones caught those 65 passes in a poor offense and in just 12 games.

Personally, I don't see Jones getting suspended for an offense he's already been suspened for.

What happened recently is between he and the courts, not the NFL.

Given the Cowboys' current receiver roster, I'd take a chance on Jones for free.

The guy is still just 25 years old (until tomorrow anyway) and he's got 4 years of NFL experience.

Taking a no-risk flyer on him could pay off.

Worst-case, the guy screws up and he's gone for good.

Best-case, you have another receiving option.

I think a lot may depend on what the Cowboys do in this weekend's draft, but I could see them taking a chance on Jones.

I was completely off the Jones bandwagon after his arrest for coke, but I'd be willing to give him a shot, in my opinion, he's not a career criminal type, just an immature kid who screwed up.

He looked to be developing into a decent NFL receiver. It would be a shame if he and the Cowboys wasted the potential.

My bad, didnt mean to come across that way

I was dogging the reporters that actually report this so called "news"

Its amazing to me how many reporters will write this sort of "news" and keep their jobs.

That's the great thing about 'speculation', Glauber got people to read his work, and if it never happens, there are no penalties for him because it will all be forgotten in a week or two.

And mentioning the Cowboys guarantees people will look.

The guy did have 65 catches last season - in 12 games, do we have any receivers who can say the same?

Who cares? If everything was solely about production he wouldn't have been available, TO wouldn't have been released, Tory Holt wouldn't have been on the market so long, ect.....

If he can't keep his nose clean, he'll be out multiple games. No thanks, no need to clean out the locker room and bring in a little trash to replace the trash that was set out on the curb.
