Several players look good on bad defenses.

Adam Archuleta rings a bell. The Skins and Bears found out the hard way.

You can name-drop all you want my friend, but the bottom line is this the past three years for Atogwe:

Interceptions: 15
Pass deflections: 22
Forced fumbles: 9

The guy creates turnovers and that's what we are starving of at the safety position.

lol..not so sure thats true. Might be exaggerating a little but he's definitely a huge upgrade. And I'd say Ed Reed is 4 X better then Hamlin, examples exist.
Oh wait, so now Reed and Atogwe are dead even in skill since both are 4 times better than Hamlin? This is a really sad grasp of straws you are now engaged in to support your nonsense.

Let's see if Ed Reed really is 4 times better than Hamlin shall we.

Hamlin has 372 career tackles, 14 INTs, and 50 Passes Defensed in 7 seasons.

That averages out to 53 tackles per year, 2 INTs, and 7 PDs.

To be 4 times as good Reed will have to average 212 tackles per year, 8 INTs per year, and 28 PDs per year.

Since Reed has played 8 years that would mean he needs 1696 tackles, 64 INTs, and 224 Passes Defensed.

What is the truth?

387 Tackles, he is only short 1309 tackles.
46 INTs, he is only short 18 INTs.
99 PDs, he is only short 125 PDs.

Hyperbole? I think so.

That'll leave a mark.

That being said, I'd rather have Atogwe on this club next year than Hamlin. I don't think Hamlin is as bad as many would like to think, but he's not playing to the level we thought he would when we extended his contract or resigned him...

I have no issue with anyone liking Atogwe better. I liked Atogwe before anyone on here. I wanted him in the Draft, and can prove it.

Why can't that simply be said? Or that he's better? No, it has to be 4 times better. Ridiculous.

What does 4X or 5X even mean? People are just trying to say that Atogwe would be a serious, serious upgrade over Hamlin, and I definitely agree with that.

According to ESPN Insiders, the Bears are very interested in his services.

It means they need to resort to hyperbole. I already said that. I already proved that. You should pay attention.

I don't know if they're exaggerating though. Atogwe is a top ten safety in the NFL in my opinion and Hamlin isn't even close to that.

Hyperbole really just mutes these discussions. No one is 4 times as good as any NFL caliber player at any position. Especially one who is coming back from an injury like Atogwe is.

I swear that kind of crap just makes me http://img41.*************/img41/3448/hosn.jpg

My main hang up is his shoulder. A shoulder injury for someone known as a hitter is not good.

If his physical could check out, and he'd be willing to play for a lot less than what Hamlin's getting paid now, it'd be a winning situation.

Oh goody, now YOUR opinion is all that matters and 4 times better isn't an exaggeration due to your opinion.

And if his shoulder is not better, one hit and he is a one armed FS.

Yeah, Jerry should break the sound barrier to sign him and give the Rams picks.

I agree....hyperbole is the number one cause of my frustration on this forum.

Few posters seem to value rationality when posting. They can't say: "Newman had a down year, gave up more plays than he should, and needs to get back to his old form".

Instead we get: "Newman is barely a top 50 CB that needs a wheelchair to get his decrepit *** across the field to whiff on a tackle. We need to send him packing asap, while we can still get a bag of chips for him. Make it happen Jerra!"

****** Status in its truest form.

Huh? When did I say my opinion is all that matters?:confused::confused:
If people on the forum want to use hyperbole for something, then they have that right. If they want to use hyperbole to convey a point that Atogwe is light years better than Hamlin, then so be it whether it's true or not.

Just don't ask a rookie FS to start. FS is the last line of defense, I don't want to give up an easy TD every time a rookie has a brainfart.

Ken Hamlin can bench press 900 pounds, runs a 2.5 40 and is the 1st NFL player to 100 INTs. We should re-sign him at all costs.

^^^That has just as much truth to it as 4 times better hyperbole.

Yeah, you're right, everything's better with more mustard.
