Cowboys cuts (A. Glenn) *Merged*

So if Newman is out sunday. That means that, Nate Jones will be the nickel back.... YIIIIKKKKKKKKKEEEEESSSSSSSSSS

i really dont know why everybody here is saying oh no we cut Glenn.... The guy really isnt that good (too slow and old) and i would rather give the rookies a shot....

That would really stupid if we did that. Yes we need cb help but he's making 7 mil this year and wants a new FAT contract.

Yeah, I would hate that. We have so many stars to pay and so little money!

why is everyone freaking out about Glenn? and do you guys really think this was Jerry's sole decision? Glenn is average

Average is better than suck

Obviously, the club must not be too concerned about Newman's injury.

So we are going to play a 3-4 with only 3 total OLB's and one can't even practice yet, one is a rookie, and all 3 have switched to the position within the past few years?

btw, since the smoke cleared, can someone do the roster for us lazy folks?
Wade purging the roster of "Parcells Guys"?

I thought Joey Thomas definately played better that Ball. I think we should have kept Glymph also.

Even if Glenn is average, that puts him above most of what we have left.

and Junior Glymph would help this situation how?

Well, if that's the intent, he's not doing a very good job of it. ;)

I see Parcells holdovers all over the place.

Suprised we cut Glenn.

I'm thinking CB has to be a very high priority in the draft next year; at least we have two first rounders.

this is one of those times where you just have to place your faith in the coaching staff

they'll have to earn their money's worth, and as someone just mentioned, this means that Newman's injury isn't that serious

I can't believe the outcry over Aaron Glenn...the guy gave up some big plays last year. He's old and doesn't support the run well at all.

If we're expecting to put pressure on the QB, then it makes more sense to me to keep the younger guys...When we're in the nickel, I'm just as happy with Reeves or Jones out there as Glenn at this point. They probably also figure they can pick up CB's who get cut that will be every bit as good as Glenn and cheaper.

I think it also says that TNEw is expected to be back soon, even if it's not for the Giants game. Would you really want to keep Glenn just for that game? They have to look at the bigger picture, imo.

I don't have a problem with any of the cuts. I especially think it would have been crazy to keep the young QB. We'll probably resign him to the practice squad, but if not, rest assured...QB's just like him at this point in time will be available for the practice squad even if he gets signed...Frankly, I see no way in heck he'll get signed to someone's 53 man roster.

I like the fact that Phillips isn't hanging onto every aging veteran who's game is going downhill out of some fear of rookies. He prides himself in putting players in position to make plays...let's give him a chance.

All-time overreaction thread.

There are clearly more moves coming.

Glenn can be resigned tomorrow w/o his contract obligations. There will be lots of choices from the cut list today and the best way to put brown and Ball on the PS is to wait 48 hrs before cutting them.

Wait, wait, wait with all the "stupid" comments.

Unless of course, there's an innovative blitz 11 up front scheme in and we are no longer playing defensive backs.

glenn cant be signed tomorrow, it has to be next week. After the giants game.

Honestly from listening to him talk I dont think he would resign here after getting cut, but I hope he does.
