D.J. Swearinger might get cut by the Texans. He irritated the coaches in Houston and had some minor off-field issues, IIRC.

SS will not be with the Texans in 2015.
The Texans are trying to find a trade partner for Swearinger, the No. 57 overall pick in 2013, as we speak. If they can't salvage a sixth- or seventh-rounder for him, he'll be waived. Swearinger is a name because he takes no prisoners as one of the league's biggest (and most undisciplined) hitters, but he's also brutal against the run and nothing special in coverage. Swearinger is not a fit in the culture Bill O'Brien is trying to build in Houston. May 11 - 9:18 AM

He had some good games as a rookie in 2013.

He seemed to do some good things early in 2014:

10/27/14 - SS D.J. Swearinger intercepted his first pass this season, giving the Texans 17 turnovers, including seven interceptions. They forced 11 turnovers last season.
09/16/14 - SS D.J. Swearinger is off to a splendid start. He's a big reason the Texans are unbeaten and have allowed only 20 points, fewest in the NFL. No player on the team has made more big plays than Swearinger, who has been involved in three of the six turnovers, two that saved touchdowns and one that set up a touchdown. "As a DB, everybody has the ability to play, but he's got an instinctive skill, and it shows in his play," veteran safety Danieal Manning said. "A lot of young players don't have that. They develop it later on as they get experience. DJ has it now. He's got a real knack for the ball."
09/14/14 - SS D.J. Swearinger forced a fumble and recovered a fumble Sunday against Oakland, but he left the game in the fourth quarter with an elbow injury. Texans coach Bill O'Brien had no update after the game on Swearinger's injury.
09/11/14 - SS D.J. Swearinger is coming off the best game of his career. He sets the tempo for the defense with his physical style. He's an emotional player who does a lot of trash talking, which he needs to temper. Against the Commanders, he had eight tackles, one sack, two hits on the quarterback and a forced fumble at the Texans' 8-yard line.

From what I have read, he has been pretty crappy and some article I read had him rated as the 78th safety out of 87.

According to Texan fans he walked out of a meeting because he didn't want to play ST since he was a 2 nd rd pick.

He would be a slight improvement over Heath and can play STs so I wouldn't be opposed to it. It's not a move I would be particularly worried about though and definitely wouldn't trade a pick for him.

If he thinks he's too good for STs he'll be out of the league. He's simply not a starter at this point and no team is going to carry a b/u SS who refuses to play STs

Actually according to DJ himself he's no longer with the Texans... http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexans/2015/05/swearinger-says-hes-no-longer-with-texans

Swearinger isn't a bad player and a 6th or 7th seems fair, but he doesn't love football enough to be on this team.

Not sure he is interested in paying smart, doing things the "right way" and willing to do what it takes to win. Also gets flagged for taunting and targeting often. O'Brien was probably sending a locker room message and if so, he might not be someone Garrett would be interested in either.

Doesn't sound like a RKG.

*Walked out due to not wanting to play ST?

Yea, not the type of attitude I would want the Cowboys to bring in.

It would be worth bringing him in for an interview to allow Garrett to see for himself what he thinks about this players attitude; although, if he was cut he has to pass through waivers and somebody will probably claim him.

Doesn't sound like a player the Cowboys would be interested in. For all the faults on any of the other players they have obtained, love of football and team oriented are important attributes. Sounds like this guy lacks both. And can be a thorn on the team. Besides, his play is similar to Church already. No thanks.

We've got some young CBs and Safeties who have more promise.

It's always difficult to know about a player that just didn't get along with another coaching staff. It would be a free look if he got him on waivers.

He was better in coverage in college than is being reported. He was a better coverage Safety in college than Church.

For a 6th or especially 7th? Sure.

We don't have a 6th round pick next year...it was traded to SF for player they could have drafted anyway in the 7th.........
So would need to be a 7th...and if wasted in being traded away...hey, who cares right...we have comp picks coming that can't be traded..........

I wanted Dallas to draft him coming out of South Carolina a couple years back but if he's blowing up the locker room with crazy, selfish, demands; he can go be a locker room cancer elsewhere..
