Oh I get it...........you have to play against a guy to know whether or not he's the best.

Next time Troy Aikman makes a statement about a player being one the best during his color analysis with Fox........................

The statement didn't warrant a reply IMHO.

Get real.

Chad Johnson said it on Sportcenter last week, duirng an interview after the NFL ruling banning certain TD celebration. He hoped for a Monday Night match-up against DeAngelo Hall.

I don't have to live in Atlanta to watch Falcon games. Direct TV is awesome, plus there enough sportbars in the DC/MD/VA area carrying every game in HDTV.

I think Hall is a very good CB and after hearing Johnson's statement I think he is one of the best if thet best. Johnson opinion like that of Irvin during the 90s about CB carries more weight than some stat pushing, tape watching interns. There job is to sell rags to the fans, Chad Johnson job is to study defenses...............and quite frankly he's proven to be one of the best.

What is so confusing? He does line-up against CBs. He studies team game film to become a better WR and not to sell stats.

Just because he hasn't lined up against DeAngelo Hall specifically doesn't mean he can't have an opinion.

Just because he hasn't lined up against DeAngelo Hall specifically doesn't mean he can have an opinion.

What's confusing is that earlier in the thread, you claim you trust Johnson's judgement more because "He actually lines up against these guys" (and don't you try to claim you were just talking about CBs in general - some of us are paying attention). Then, when it is revealed that Johnson has not, in fact, lined up against "these guys", it becomes "you don't have to play against a guy to know he's the best."

Not sure which one it is....prolly whichever one suits your point at the moment.

Keep going. It doesn't really make that much of a difference.

Chad Johnson an ALL Pro Wr with 3 straight Pro Bowl appearances thinks he's the best.

You.............an Atlanta native that watches ALL the games and has a copy of SI thinks some else is the best.

I arrest my case

Yes I made that statement in reply to:

So lets get this right. Newman gives up less yards per game, less TDs, less penalties. than Robinson, yet you choose Robinson based on the quote of one WR instead of using facts? wow

He meant Hall instead of Robinson. I replied that I'd take Johnson's opinion over a bunch pushers because he lines up against these guys.............

You might be paying attention, but all that tells me is that your comprehension skills are lacking.

I can respect your opinion (shocking isn't it), but I'd suggest you take your homer glasses off because Deion Sanders in his Prime is the definition of the best CB in the league, while Newman is a very good CB he doesn't make game changing plays that are to be expected from a 5th overall pick in the draft and he hasn't made a Pro Bowl yet................

And yet, the fact remains, Chad Johnson hasn't lined up against Hall. Neither did Chad line up against Newman THIS YEAR, which was what Dr. Z's quote was evaluating. So, in essence, you're taking the word of a player that hasn't lined up against either CB, over a guy who has watched tons of film. By all accounts players see less of their peers than you, I, or Dr. Z, lest you forget, they're actually playing in the games on sunday. I remember an interview once that said that the average NFL player, when voting for the pro-bowl, has about as much insight as the average fan, because if they're not breaking down game film, they don't really see other players. All they have to go on is the same media coverage each of us gets. So, they vote for the names they hear. Maybe it was Parcells that said that, I can't remember.

I comprehended just fine, yet you still fail to make any sense.

You must not be watching Cowboy games living in Atlanta (makes me understand why you live by stats) because Newman didn't cover all those WRs on every play, Infact Anthony Henry (only CB in play at an elite level for Dallas in the past 5 seasons) might look this chart and laugh.

Check the thread. I don't live in Atlanta. And it doesn't matter if Newman was the one matched up against those receivers on every play. Except for Smith(who Newman was locked up almost exclusively with - only a few plays off him), every receiver listed was the team's leading receiver against the Cowboys. If Newman wasn't covering them, then he was doing an even BETTER job against the other receivers.

I pay for the Sunday Ticket. I saw every snap, of every game last year. Reading comprehension....
