Ouch. Dammmmmmmm, you might be right.I mean is that where we've come at this point? Argue that maybe DL play isn't that important as a way to defend Marinelli?

I'm just pointing out that the philosophy is organizational - and Marinelli is only part of the equation.I mean is that where we've come at this point? Argue that maybe DL play isn't that important as a way to defend Marinelli?
The Pats have always taken an inside-out strategy which is stout up middle (nt, ilb, safety) forcing the ball to go laterally. JJ on the other hand loves outside rushers. The real stat you need to look at is the takeaways. Pats were studs in that area while we were awful.
I just saw someone claim we overdrafted Taco, and that is not true. I hate when people bend the facts to fit their agenda.I mean is that where we've come at this point? Argue that maybe DL play isn't that important as a way to defend Marinelli?

We weren't soft against Seattle. Yes, the Rams outclassed us.On game day I am loving our guys through my beer goggles. But last year we were soft especially in the playoffs and I haven't seen anything to make me think otherwise.
Pats were also Top 10 in pressure rate last year despite being near the bottom in sacks.
So were Pittsburgh and Jacksonville and Minnesota. And Dallas.Pats were also Top 10 in pressure rate last year despite being near the bottom in sacks.
Lol they didn't "hit" on woods. He's a jag at best lol. What do taking LBs and CBs have to do with how the team has approached building a DL, specifically DT? That's the issue here - the defensive line and specifically DT. Marinelli has been here since 2013. 6 years later, we still have a DL that has some questions, can't rush the passer at a high level, and continues to throw limited assets at the DT position.
And Woods actually fits precisely into what this team's philosophy seems to be - don't use a lot of premium assets on DT or S. Woods was a 6th round pick that they hit on. That fits precisely in with the organizational philosophy of using limited assets on the S position. I mean our safety depth chart is nothing but late round draft picks, UDFAs, garbage bin retreads.
Yes and we were near the bottom in pressure rate last year. And this year as well.Pats were also Top 10 in pressure rate last year despite being near the bottom in sacks.
Y'all ain't haters, just as I ain't a blind homer. Debate is good and healthy, but making things personal never makes a point.
In my view, Taco was a fail, but not colossal. Now if we had made that trade to move up for Lynch, that would have been colossal and would have set back the organization for years. The Taco miss hasn't set us back much except for the compensation we gave up for Quinn.

NE had a pressure rate of 33.8%, Dallas was 33.3%. We were not near the bottom, we were 9th in the league. From Rod's Rushmen.Yes and we were near the bottom in pressure rate last year. And this year as well.

That is a mentality I have not quite understood. One the reasons Rod was brought in was his ability to coach up mid-talent DL.
That's what I was thinking. That's how you read the post?
Seems to me what needs to come from that data and when you look at the FAs we've tried, the Cowboys philosophy of trying to build a DL, and more specifically DT, through lower picks and bargain bin FAs doesn't work.
I mean is that where we've come at this point? Argue that maybe DL play isn't that important as a way to defend Marinelli?
And add to that, this type of thinking has never resulted in a super bowl win.The sacrifices of size and power and defensive soundness under Marinelli have NEVER materialized in the desired increase in sacks and pressure.
