Seriously: what is JG good at again? He has a playbook that doesn't seem particularly inventive, his play calling is insufficient enough to have had the duties passed off to multiple people, his game management skills are bizarrely bad, he's a great big blank on defense, and this whole thing about him being good at managing the team during the week is even losing its shine, given the regular late season collapses.

But but but the personnel!!

Oh wait, he was here for the 2012 draft....

The most important thing is that he goes about it the right way, and the game is important to him.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Linehan is not being brought in to "teach" Garrett how to coach.

Then why would we hire him? You don't need 3 OCs to implement an offense that we've been running for the better part of a decade. Jerry obviously thinks we're missing something offensively that JG cant probide and is hoping linehan can fix it.

As opposed to what? The countless number of scumbag coaches who do things the "wrong way" and don't care one way or the other if they lose?

I like it. Dez will need a tutor to learn the game of football.

I'm OK with this.

To me Wade Wilson needs to be replaced, too.

As QB coach I think Romo has hit a plateau.

Since Payton left for NO..

Romo hasn't really made a lot of improvement in many key areas of his game.

I don't know if its about his reads or his audibles or progressions that needs expansion.

Something is missing and part of what I hope gets better with this hire is another set of experienced eyes and ears.

Saying "yes" to everything Jerry says. That's really about it.

Pretty much where I'm at in a nutshell.

the titles for this team are laughable...what a joke this FO is....passing game coordinator...in other words, can't call someone the offensive coordinator because it could quite possibly bruise the feelings of the HC who simply has Zero responsibilities, you know, the coach in training?

....ladies and gentlemen, in the center ring, we now give you our passing game coordinator....try not to step on the steaming, piled up mess left by the previous "offensive coordinator".....

This goes back since Clownshoes was hired. Wasnt Sparano the running game coordinator in the only season that Jason actually looked like he was smart?

hmmmm

As a passing game coordinator, I think he does bring something positive to that area and that area only. With that being said, this was kind of a slap in the face to those who were clamoring for more runs next year. Although Detroit did run more than us this year, his history sticking to the run, does not really exist in the NFL.

Parcells had a passing game coordinator while he was in Dallas.

I look forward to all of you telling me how you are undeniably more knowledgeable about football than Parcells. Please commence

Bill Parcells was a defensive guy....Garrett is an offensive guy who is this great play caller with this great playbook according to Jerry and co. Yet he needs an offensive coordinator AND a passing game coordinator. o_O

How long will it take for the sunshine crew to jump on the Linehan bandwagon?

Good question! How long *will* it take the fans who haven't thrown themselves off an emotional cliff yet to not throw themselves off it again at the rumored hiring of an experienced available offensive coach for the side of the ball-besides STs, I mean- that actually performed well this season?

My best guess is that nobody can say.

By all means, lets add a third playcaller to the mix. More is better right?

Just heard that we are going to hire Linehan to be the play caller so I had to jump on here and find out the details.

I skimmed through this thread pretty quick so maybe I missed it, but apparently this is Garrett's idea?

I though Garrett took play calling back over from Callahan mid season?

So Garrett has decided that neither him or Callahan or qualified or competent to call plays and we need a 3rd guy from outside the organization to come in and call plays now?

Am I missing something here? I have not been on the board lately, taking a break, but when I heard the news about a new playcaller I had to check it out and maybe something has been going on that I missed. So Garrett has decided that neither him or Callahan should be calling he plays and Garrett knows of Linehan from when they were on the Miami staff together for one year under Saban, so Garrett went to Jerry and told Jerry to hire this guy to call the plays since Callahan and Garrett both suck at it?

Does anybody else find this kinda weird that the head coach does not think he nor the offensive coordinator nor anybody else on the current staff is competent enough to call plays so a 3rd party from outside the organization needs to be brought in to handle that job this year?

Not as quick as it'll take the realists to poo poo it.

I thought there were going to be no changes to the coaching staff this coming year and that that decision was one of Jerry's best football moves ever. I thought I read that on here last week......

Just another day in the life of the Dallas Garrettboys.

Oh no, we cant fire Jason. We need continuity!!

Changes defenses, 3rd playcaller in 3 years.
