No Carson Wentz's floor is not in the league in 2 years as we never saw him play anyone and was on a team that advanced to the championship without him. Maybe ceiling is closer to a serviceable starter, but I stand by the career backup floor thing. He is not Tim Tebow, he has an arm to go with his legs and he isn't arrogant enough to assume he won't need to change at this level.
Wentz is far, far more talented thrower. As evidenced by him going second overall. He has some bust potential, I will give you that like every single player that's never played a down in the NFL.

Prescott might be a somewhat more advanced passer than Tebow, but that doesn't mean a hell of a lot. He still doesn't make NFL level throws, his mechanics are bad. He doesn't throw with anticipation. He doesn't have great pocket presence or awareness, he doesn't make reads, he runs as pretty much the first option. He doesn't tick off many of the things you want to see in a potential NFL starter.

No, this one will keep us from thinking about the successor. A waste of time.

Yes, you have a point. Jerry will use him to say that the QB problem is solved. When Romo is gone, they will waste two or three years trying to make Dak into a pro QB even though he doesn't gave the talent. Most of us knew this pick was coming, so there is no surprise. For those that think he is the answer, they clearly have not watched him play. He is a good kid with good leadership snd was a good college QB, but the Tebow comparisons are valid , except Tebow was better. He will be a progress stopped in the future and his ceiling is being a third string QB or practice squad guy. If Cook had Dak's attitude and character, he would be a top five guy. I think that much of Dak as a person, but as a football player, no way. I watched just about every game that he played and the media coverage was a daily thing here in Mississippi, so I kinda have a feel for the guy.

Has anyone posted the video of him getting beat up at PCB during Spring Break? Or talked about his DUI before the draft? Sheesh. I don't get it. Seems to me like he plays like Tim Tebow and acts like Johnny Manziel off the field.

If Dak busts or we see another guy we like within the next half decade? No biggie. Draft another guy. If we give up a fortune for Wentz or Goff? Better hope you like watching them for the next half decade and they pan out. If we flame out next year, we have another high first. If we gave up our draft to draft Wentz or Goff, have fun watching someone else possibly get a franchise player with our 1st.

Walter and Prisco both gave it an A grade and both said he could be the heir to Romo if he can work on some of his mechanics at this level. When 2 major Cowboys haters give us good grades... yea that's probably the sign of a good pick. I would say if Smith and Zeke work out this has the potential to be a very good draft so far. Hopefully we can get a couple more rotational guys in round 6.

I'm surprised you detest the EE pick at 4 so much.

I'll be honest, I would rarely support using such a high pick on a RB; but I truly think it makes sense here.

We've used substantial resources to build this O-line, which, as we know, excels at run blocking. I was afraid we would adopt an arrogant mentality of "the line is so good anyone can run behind them"....but we haven't. Taking EE maximizes our usage of the strongest part of our team.

I really do think it makes perfect sense. I'm glad we grabbed the RB who (I think) will put our O over the top. I'm not thrilled that we had to use the 4th overall pick to do it....but I'm more than okay with it. And I think the results will justify it.

If our team is hoisting the Lombardi trophy in the next year or two, I don't give a frog's fat *** who we drafted where.

And most of you guys won't, either. I'm sure some bitter autist will post a thread bemoaning how our SB win is tainted because our tailback was picked fourth overall but will anyone really care?

I love it.

Dude has great intangibles. Can't argue with the value this late.

I agree. Like the pick, love the value.

I expected him to be the quarterback they drafted after the top two were gone and I'm glad they didn't trade up for Lynch.

I like his tools, his completion numbers, TD to INT ratio too.

As far as the developmental guys go, I think he's got the best odds out of any of them.

The fact you think its the staff that will teach him is funny. Romo will be coaching this kid. At least we hope so. Wilson is AWFUL

God I hope so ....... my only worry is how competitive Romo is ...... but he did promise a year ago when he is done he will make sure someone is rdy

i am glad that we picked him instead of cook. I like the guy but Prescott is so inconsistent in the games I have watched the last two years especially against Alabama and lsu he struggled against big time teams. he looks like he has all of the tools to be a good qb. I hope for the best. atleast he is a fourth round pick instead of a third it won't be a huge draft bust if he does not make it.

So you name every great starter that was picked in the 6th and after and I'll name ones that were picked in the 1st and 2nd, ready, set, go?
You: Brady
Me: Marino Russell
You: Romo
Me: Manning Couch
You: crickets Brunell
Me: Brees Shuler
You: skip a turn Stauback
Me: Rodgers. ware
You: skip a turn Starr, Theisman, Gannon ...
Me: Rothlesburger(sp), Aikman, Elway, Young, Kelly, and Luck. Leaf, Weeden, Boller, Ramsey, Locker, Tebow, Manziel, George, Harrington ......

fixed it for you.

Earlier has better odds, but it does not guarantee success and late rounds doesn't mean a quarterback can't be good or great.
