Jerry said they had Smith rated higher than Zion Johnson and Kenyon Green and the entire room burst out in laughter. :lmao2:

My biggest gripe is not taking the DE Jermaine Johnson from FSU. Not only a position of need (with Randy Gregory gone), but an incredible value pick at #24.

I guess the Cowboys felt they'd have a better chance of getting a starting defensive end than an OG when they pick in the second round. So they opted to secure their OL pick first, instead of the other way around. That's the only way I can make sense out of this. Time will tell.

In fairness, I think there may be some truth to the idea that maybe something is up with Jermaine Johnson that we don't know about.

Depth at DE? They have Lawrence and a bunch of JAGs. The position needs legitimate talent and they passed on arguably the best or 2nd best edge rusher.

Why do people equate warm bodies with depth?
It’s how they operate.

Tank = big money guy
Golston = young guy on rookie deal
Armstrong = hard working average guy on cheap second deal
Basham = cheap who is gone next year
Fowler = cheap, Quinn guy.

Pretty much how they want it to be.

You can get a Mafe, Williams, Bonitto, etc tomorrow. Doesn’t look like the quality in guards is the same

The kid is clearly raw but has talent. A smart organization would stick him at LG from the start and let him settle into the position and get coaching and develop.

These yahoos are gonna play him at LG and LT making him a Jack of all trades but master of none.

When I hear Jerry and Stephen talk about “flex” positioning, I get the willies.

Who was that defensive guy we passed up when we drafted Frederick who everyone had a “third round grade” on. That worked out fine.

If you don’t trust Jerry I trust will Mcclay. Evaluating and drafting talent hasn’t been a huge issue with this team in recent years. It’s everything else
