Will McClay LOL................Enough said.
Wonder where Bossman fat is these days?
Y'all act like McClay has to be perfect or he isn't worth a crap. Our drafts have among the tops in the league for the last ten to fifteen years. We suck at financial management but we draft good. I know someone is going to bring up the draft busts we've had but again.... no one, not the great Bill Belicheck, not the Ravens, 49er's, no one is perfect.

Zimmer won't fix anything. If he could, he would have been worth a damn when here before 20 years ago, and would have accomplished something of note with the Vikings. He's the perfect Cowboys hire - familiar and comfortable, has never been a champion at the NFL level, and is guaranteed to not accomplish anything of note.
He coached on the 95 Cowboys team so he has one at the pro level. Just sayin...

That said I do wish we hired Rex Ryan instead of Zimmer.

Mazi's on McClay, we all saw him bang the desk. McClay's not infallible, everyone makes mistake.....THE IMPORTANT THING IS NOT TO DOUBLE DOWN ON THEM.
It's evident he/they thought that if Mazi lost weight he could be a serious factor in pass-rush. They appear to have reassessed this evaluation and have (re-)bulked him up as a true NT. OK they overdrafted a NT in the 1st, some picks pan out exactly, some exceed (Tyler) and some dont. What's important is getting Mazi as a (3-down) DT.....he may not pass-rush, but can facilitate and enable others to get home.

Hey, please be respectful of your future HC

Jerry is already planning for continued mediocrity ahead once he fires MM

Cowboys fixing massive Mazi Smith mistake from 2023 as Mike Zimmer arrives

Bryan Broaddus of 105.3 The Fan noted on "The Draft Show" podcast that Dallas is having Smith put weight back on to convert back to a true nose tackle. That's the position Smith was drafted to play, which made the weight loss request downright impossible to comprehend.

That is music to Cowboys fans' ears. Zimmer's arrival seems to already be paying dividends for Smith's career. As an interior defensive lineman, the former Wolverine is a much better fit in Zimmer's scheme relative to Dan Quinn's.

Toward the end of the 2023 season, Smith looked smaller than most of Dallas' defensive linemen, including their edge rushers. It was shocking to the eye considering Smith was drafted at 327 pounds. He went from one of the strongest players in the draft to a player who routinely got pushed off the ball and couldn't handle double teams.

See link for Mazzi Smith 800 lb lift weight:

That's ridiculous! (The video)

If Mike Zimmer can become a "Dr. Frankenstein" and create a "dawg", I'm all for it.
We don't need projects as the early picks or on their 2nd and 3rd year.

Didn't he have a top 5 defense like 7 out of 10 years in Minnesota?

I think he gets a pass from last year. He talked a big game coming into the season only to be pushed around and seemed to be disengaged when on the field. If he ever had a mean streak he needs to get that back. Maybe zim can light a fire under his rear end.

Not saying it’s a lost cause at all but him missing a large part of the offseason bc of injury after a dud rookie year and needing to put strength and weight back on doesn’t bode well for my confidence at the position and makes not adequately addressing the position thus far even worse

They make a lot of poor decisions in the draft. The 2nd round has been a complete joke. It’s ridiculous when people talk about how they’re one of the best drafting teams with nothing at all to show for it. This is a stupid football team and McClay is definitely part of that!
On the list of things to criticize the cowboys over, drafting is a long way down the list. The cowboys have drafted well, that’s not just a fan opinion that a widely held opinion amongst many talking heads and league people according to most nfl professionals and journalists.

All teams make a lot of “poor decisions “ in the draft. The draft is a complete crap shoot but it’s one of the things the cowboys for the most part due well and compare favorably to most teams. Fans just wanna moan to moan and that’s fine but do it about the roughly ten things that come up before drafting with this franchise.

These are a handful of articles. They aren’t perfect and no team is in the draft but it’s a real strength

Doesn’t matter how big and strong your are if you don’t get off the ball well. His get-off is terrible. He also leans and doesn’t bring his feet. He’s a guy that relied on strength in college and he could overpower lesser players. In the NFL thats not going to happen.

You draft him to be your nose tackle but you tell him to lose weight and that he does so much that he weighs less than the DEs on the team. That makes no sense what so ever but I guess common sense is not so common with some people.
