good news is those people will likely be cut off from electricity eventually if they don't understand the bills coming due.According to some uninformed salary cap "gurus" the bill never comes due. They say the cap is irrelevant. That say we can do whatever we want, whenever we want, but they never explain we we haven't been doing it.
They can't explain why a cap exists as if it really isn't a cap at all.
There is a sane area in the middle where people understand you can convert base and reduce cap hits so being over isn't a deathknell... but teams also prefer to do so for players you expect to be long-term team members as ANY money paid them will eventually hit the cap. It never just goes away unless it was unpaid future base money. The more often you extend guys the more often you run risks of injuries or character issues bumbling up and blindsiding you into eating a big cap hit.
Any believing having 3m in cap space versus CLE with 103m means nothing is just not very smart.
