Cowboys getting a bad rap?

The Pats seem to get a pass from society despite the bad character players they've signed and with the cheating they've done because they win championships and are always competing for the SB. People love winners. As for Hernandez he was a great value pick in the 4th round can't blame them for taking a chance in that round despite his character issues. They signed him twice because there had been no trouble with him.

The opposite is equally true. People hate winners. Who gives the Patriots a pass? Maybe in the south they're ok, they are the most hated team around here, were before deflategate, were before hernandez, were before spygate.

Remember that when folks talk about the Pats.

I have to disagree. I would love to win it all, but not if it means being ashamed of the team. And we are taking some big risks character wise lately.

I remember being ashamed of Michael Irvin and never caring for him as a player because of that. I would like our players to be the kind you want your kids to look up to. Not the kind of guy they write rap music about.

I was just reading an article on ProFootballTalk about Hardy and one of the comments said he was lucky he only got 10 games after knocking a 115lb woman unconscious, not once but twice.

I was defending Hardy last year when he was still a Panther because the case against him was so shotty. But it is hard to fight back against that kind of misinformation.

I was reading some articles about Ray McDonald and in the comments all the jokers were saying "Jerry is on the phone" after he was released and that he would fit right in on the Cowboys. I know the Hardy signing would bring some criticism(I didn't expect it from Staubach and Moose) but are we really THAT team now. The Raiders of old or the Ravens of the last decade.

Besides Hardy, who else would be considered bad character guys? Gregory just failed a drug test. Collins didn't do a thing wrong. McClain was cleared in the fire. Randle was cleared from the hotel incident. Brent and Spillman are gone. I don't mind having a couple loose cannon, Charles Haley types, but Garrett has worked hard to bring in his RKGs and the difference showed last year. They aren't Boy Scouts but they are guys they eat, breathe and sleep football, take coaching advice and will sacrifice for the team.

Are the Boys getting a bad rap or is it deserved and if it is, is it worth it if we keep winning?

This is how it starts.

More haters than ever.

Then it'll be the refs favoring us.

Next it'll be that Dallas is "cheating."

I don't see the Hardey signing as a risk but Gregory yes. But no one say anything when New England sign people with checker pass.

We as fans get a bad rap when we start talking "magical receiver gloves".

Oh no, they're bringing back the Papa Johns commercial with Jerry Jones?

What's that blonde chick staring at?

She looks like she is saying to herself..."Jerry, is that a gun in your pocket or are you just glad to see me .... again?".

The Cowboys will always get a bad rap... everybody hates #1.

there are times in my life i have full and total comprehension of how the earth began. i close my eyes and meditate to a time long gone by and i can actually see the forming of the earth, giving me new understanding and awareness not only of myself, but the zen of the universe. i can stay in this state of mind for days on end where the most complex of situations falls before me like oak leaves in october during my conscious walk through the woods, dying so that they may live again.

all this i can understand.

where the hell you're coming from on this is still beyond me. why you care fades into a distant 2nd.

It's not the media.

Every story I read, in the comments, its other fans calling the Cowboys out as the "criminal team". It just seems over the top considering the Pats just got caught cheating again and Hernandez was given Life.

Then why do you care fans think?

It is just annoying. I grew in Washington DC as a Cowboys fans so I can take the trash talking, I just don't get the whole criminal team stuff. Hardy was even a Cowboy when the charges were made.

Seems like many give the Pats a pass because they win so consistently and most feel their cheating gates made no difference to their success. They have what every team aspires to have an all-time great NFL HC and QB.

It is kind of funny I don't have to go to ESPN, NFL Network or listen to other fans of other teams. Some of the harshest comments I have seen have come from our own fans right here.

The only thing that bothers me is when members of the media start asking, "Is the Cowboys new, smart way of running things already over?"

The franchise is clearly being run differently than when Jerry signed Tank Johnson, Packman Jones, and TO... but they are equating getting Hardy and Gregory with that time when Phillips was coach.

They couldn't be anymore different... but people see it as going back to that time.

Since the Ray Rice situation you're going to get a bad rap signing a player who's been accused of domestic violence. While most teams are cutting these players the Cowboys signed one. It makes everyone scrutinize the other players you sign who've had issues. The Cowboys are taking some chances with these players and will likely continue to do so until they get burned.

The Pats consistently win and winning makes the media and society overlook a lot of things. The Cowboys haven't been to a SB in 20 years and have only won 3 playoff games in 19 years. The lack of success over the past 2 decades makes many question a lot of the moves they make. If questionable moves lead to championships no one cares. Most of Cowboys Nation could care less if the Cowboys sign players with questionable character as long as it leads to wins on the field.
