If I'm reading the article right, he would make the $1.7 million prorated for every game he was healthy (or at least not out because of the right knee) and the pro rated portion of $500,000 for the remainder of the games. So if he played half of the games before the right knee forces him out, he would make $850,000 plus $250,000 or $1.1 million total. Is this correct?

If so, he should sign immediately because if he can make it through half or more of the season he wouldn't lose that much money.

With some of the comments made in this thread it's no wonder players like Roy could careless about a fans opinion.

So with Jerry talking up Glenn as recently as a week or so ago, does anyone else think he has, or had, a trade for a WR cooking?
And was trying to make it appear Glenn was healthy in order to limit what he might have to give up for another WR?

Glenn's an accident waiting to happen. If you followed the injuries he has had, there is no reason to think he will last a season, and he could go down at any moment. Or be able to play at his old level. That was last year's mistake.

I have thought this for awhile, and so, apparantly, do the Cowboys' brass. Nothing against Glenn, he has played great for us, but holding on to players too long is an error the Cowboys have experianced before.

Glenn can stay if he wants or go find another team that he thinks might be a play off competitor. Don't think they will give him a great deal either, especially after they see the results of the physical.

Right now a million in cap money is a BIG thing if we want to resign Hamlin. Or maybe get Canty done.

I don't think Glenn will be in Dallas much longer, that's really unfortunate, I think he loved being a Dallas Cowboy but the money is always going to be the number one factor with some players...

The Dallas Cowboys want receiver Terry Glenn on their team.
Amazing how so many people are overlooking the first line of the article. Terry's not going anywhere.

The fact that they are putting the screws to Glenn for roughly 1.2 million says a lot about their belief that Glenn would be able to contribute to this team. No way would Jerry be so worried about that amount of money if he felt there was a decent chance Glenn could perform at a high level and help this team win a Super Bowl. They should of just cut him and been done with it.

The first line is taken out of context if not read with what follows.

"But an NFL source said the Cowboys have told Glenn to either sign the $500,000 injury waiver for his surgically-repaired right knee or prepare to play elsewhere."

Yes they do want him BUT he has to sign the injury waiver in order to be on the team. Just because they want him here doesn't mean that he will be here. He has to play by the teams rules or they will, regretfully, send him packing.

Jerry, since when do you care about saving a few bucks? What are your plans if he calls your bluff? Are you really ready to roll the dice with TO, Crayton, and a bunch of maybes? What if TO jacks up his ankle or finger again? Aren't we a little closer to a championship with Glenn on the roster, even at less than full strength? This is an odd time to get "penny wise."

As rich as the Cowboys seem to be, we can't afford to waste money, which is exactly what will happen if Glenn suffers another season ending knee injury. We all want him to contribute, but he won't do us any good in the rehab room.

Basically, I think the team is saying sign the waiver and stay here or else we will cut you and use the extra cap space to bring in someone else.

This is a business, and I can tell you with assurance that you will only get by for so long with a company without producing, for whatever reason, before you will get your walking papers.

The Cowboys have been generous and patient with Glenn. But now he needs to return the favor by signing that waiver in the event that something goes wrong.

It's insurance policies like these that every successful business must have and the Cowboys are no different.

If he doesnt sign it, then he is not a smart business man.

What team will offer more than 1.7 million with his bum knee?

What team would not protect themselves if they did?

To me, Glenn is cornered here.

That knee of Glenn's held this team hostage last year... I don't want to see that happen two years in a row.

If I were JJ i'd make him sign that injury waiver, but also include bonus incentives for the 2008 season if he stays healthy and gets stats, such as $300,000 bonus if he stays healthy, breaks 1000 yards, and gets into the post season. Give him the carrot and the stick. It would address his knee issue but also show appreciation for his contributions to the team.
