What's the vet minimum? $850k or so? That's all he's making anywhere else.

Which means they're setting his % chance of playing at about 30%.

30% of $1.7 million = $.510
70% of $0.5 million = $.350

Total of $860k.

So, if Glenn thinks his chance of playing all 16 games is better than 30% he should take the deal.

Except in Miami.

If he doesn't, in my mind he exposes what I thought all along. That he was trying to collect another year of NFL salary - whether he could play or not.

I'll always appreciate what he did while he was here, but I think it's time to move on.

Cut him and use the money more wisely on players who are healthy enough to play.

Too bad, but he's like Mike Sherrard from UCLA was for us years ago as our #1 draft pick...he injured his leg so bad his rookie year that as much as they tried to let him play, they just had to end up saying it didn't work out after the second leg injury and let him go after they let him do all the rehab and they paid him his contract but couldn't continue to invest in him as a player..

TG will be better off retiring IMO. He really needs the surgery and should just opt out for it.

This is Dallas' way of saying they don't think he's ready to play.

He could have had the microfracture surgery last year and retired, but he risked his long term health for another chance at the Superbowl. For whatever money he "stole" from Jerry last year, Jerry "stole" from Glenn on his first contract with the Cowboys. He's a warrior and a professional, and he did nothing but make huge catch after huge catch with the Cowboys. I'll be sad to see him go. Frankly, I'm surprised Jerry's making such a hardline stance over a player who has sacrificed himself so much for a chance to save 1.2 million dollars. Jerry has spent that much on long snappers. The Cowboys don't have a surefire #2 WR. If it's Superbowl or Bust in 2009, they should be keeping possibilities open, not limiting them.

Actually, Jerry Jones is leaving the decision up to Glenn. He hasn't cut him, yet, and won't if Glenn signs.

Other teams would have cut him last year.

it's nice to be able to fire someone because you are pissed off about something that you should have seen coming a mile away. his agent likely negotiated the split deal as a way to keep TG from getting released.

He'll be back book it, he wants to win a ring and he is already comfortable in our system. When pushs comes to shove TGs last song will be with in a Dallas uni, if he gets hurt then career over if not we our offense just got even better. Not that it needed to get any better imo.
