Cowboys have contacted OL Tyson Clabo

Stack Watch...down

"Tyson Clabo, right tackle, Falcons. He was the guy that was matched up with Carolina’s Charles Johnson most of the day. Even though the Falcons gave Clabo a lot of help by lining up offensive lineman Mike Johnson as a tight end, Charles Johnson still was able to beat the blocks and record 3.5 sacks."

I don't understand the logic. People want to give up on Free (who only had one bad year) for guys who might not be any better. I know Free is expensive and that cutting him will free up some cap space, but then wouldn't signing someone (who might not be any better) counteract the cap space we make up for cutting Free?

Ironic considering you're writing off Clabo for one bad game. Clabo only gave up four sacks last season and is immensely better than Free.

Yup. he was rated by PFF as #5 RT last year I believe.

Thank goodness they re-signed Romo to have cap room to make possible moves like this......aaaaannnnnddd duck!

Agree. You can't write off someone for one game.
I posted that game just to remind people that they all have warts.
They say he gave up 3 1/2 sack in that one game. So you're saying in all the other games he gave up 1/2 sack total?
That would be impressive.

Why are Falcons cutting him.
I was thinking they wanted to sign a pass rusher but had little room.

Why don't we just draft an OT? Way cheaper than Clabo will be thanks to the new rookie salary cap, and way younger. Why keep blowing money on older stopgap guys when we can draft a guy and plug him in there for 4 years and forget about him?

Charles Johnson is also pretty good himself and just now entering his prime.

That he is.
It could have just been one of those disaster games.

Anyone other than Free at RT would put a smile on my face. But only if the price is right.

most likely cap room to extend Matt Ryan.

Ryan has a 12 mill cap hit - a deal identical to Romo's would produce the same cap hit.

They don't need to free space to sign him long term

Because we suck at drafting?

Maybe if the price is right. Not sure what age lineman are usually done be he is 31 and free is only 28
