He will sign next week when the team returns to Dallas. Waters hates training camp, and want to avoid as much of it as possible.

Good. I hope he accepts and adds to what we have going on the line. I think Bernadeau would be ok, but there is a chance Waters would make the line a very good one.

If for no other reason, I'd like for Frederick to pick his brain for this one year. Waters did it the right way...

I just hope they aren't afraid to cut or bench him if he isn't better than Bern. I think Bern has the right to earn a starting job. But I like the move.

So is it true that they've always wanted Waters (ahead of Moore), or did they just say that after Moore stiffed them?

We are in a good position. The only other team in Texas is Houston and he wants to stay in Texas. So I like our chances.

Not a big Waters fan, but could be an improvement. I wonder what the offer was.

I think they preferred Waters over Moore but went with Moore cause he was cheaper and familiar with the system from his time with Bill. Who really knows, I'm just happy oline help could be on the way.

I am actually willing to give Bernie a chance I think over the last week he has really stepped up. Hopefully the waters signing is a just in case. I just have a hard time believing a 36 year old OG that didn't play last year is going to come in and light it up.

Yeah, Bernie obviously deserves a chance after playing 2 or 3 series against the RAIDERS. Bernadeau will pull a hamstring by Week 3. Get Waters in here ASAP.

In their primes, give me Waters over Moore any day. I kinda preferred Moore because he's younger and played last year. But we'll see.

Oh and waters the 36 year old who hasn't played in over a year isn't going to pull a Hammy? Please.. My point was is Bernie had a good week of practice and it carries over to the game. Maybe just maybe we are finally seeing a healthy Bernie.

I don't mind giving Bern a chance. I just think we should truly honor the "competition at every position" we've been proclaiming. If we sign Waters but Bern is better, cut or bench Waters. If Sims is better than Durant despite us giving Durant starter money, start Sims. If Wilcox is the best safety, start him.

I just have a feeling if they sign Waters they'll just hand him the job without making him earn it.

I'm afraid of that as well and I would say what kind of message does that send to the team? I've got a feeling Bernie is going to play some solid ball

I'll take my chances with a 6x Pro Bowler, 2x All-Pro, and the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award Winner over a backup lineman from Carolina who couldn't break the starting lineup and can't stay healthy if his life depended on it. Reports are that Waters is in tremendous shape and the year off did wonders for him. He's hungry. He wants a championship.

Waters > Bernadeau every day and twice on Sunday!

I'm not buying this 100% yet. Watkins is one of the worst offenders at putting out stuff that turns out to be wrong. If Waters does end up here, he's got the scoop. If he doesn't everyone will forget about it, or he'll just say Waters turned us down.

That said, I think it's potentially a good move. My guess (as others have already stated) is that Waters would join us after TC is over and we're back in Dallas. I also think that would mean the end of Livings with the Cowboys. I think they are OK with Berny starting, but at the same time they are worried that he can't stay healthy. By putting Waters in a guard, it's an upgrade at the starter position and also gives us better depth with Berny as the primary backup.

That's just a guess, any number of things could happen though.

If this happens, it will be interesting to see how the rest of the backup situation shakes out. It puts Kowalski, Arkin, Livings, Bernadeau, Costa and Cook all on the bubble, with 2 to 4 of them on the outside looking in. (probably 2 or 3 cut though)

Personally, I'm highly doubtful they preferred a 36 year old who hasn't played football in a year and is notorious for hating camp to a 33 year old that has started every game since 2005. What the Cowboys want right now is something they can count on, Waters isn't that but Moore isn't going to show up so it has to be SOMEBODY.
