Not something to break out the blood pressure meds out over, but this is a no lose situation for Dallas. Worst case scenario, Dallas starts Bernie and best case being Waters still has gas in the tank.

Bringing in a starting caliber vet makes this OL capable of taking us to the play-offs even with a injury or 2 along the way. Get it done.

Waters at 75% is better than Bernie at 100%. And when has Bernie been at 100%?

Nice avatar Row... er... Burms... :D

must be the default avatar since I deliberately never chose one. That BS message at the top of the page rubs me the wrong way- So I did the opposite of what it was whining about.

I'm not sure that Waters is a great option at this point. I'm at the point though where I just want this line shored up as much as possible for September.

If Waters can be a significant improvement from Bernadeau this offense can be that much more successful this year while we draft another guard next year. The offensive line already looks very much improved. Who knows maybe with Waters it can be an NFL quality line.

As long as we go into it with the idea that he is a stop gap unlike Rivera or Davis who were brought in to fill the role permanently, it's just one year.

This is true. Waters shadow can outplay Bernadeau.

I actually like Bernadeau on this roster, but as a backup only.

Interesting. That may explain a lot regarding Moore. Maybe they do like Waters more, but he shot down their initial efforts so they went after Moore.

Maybe, which makes me not like this move even more. If this guy has been waffling like Eggos for awhile, I'm of the mindset to move on and wait until the first cuts and see who falls on the waiver wire.

Put me in the group that doesn't really like the 'Boys going after guys who have been sitting on their couch for the past 18 months and asking them to compete for a starting spot.

It's a lose situation for the fans who have been saying "no worries the line will be fiiine". With the courting of Moore and now Waters, the Cowboys brass is saying the the line is not fine and needs upgrading. This IS a no lose situation for the Cowboys, if Waters turns out to be the better than Bern then it's an upgrade but if Waters has nothing left in the tank then he's cut and your in the same situation you were in prior to his signing.

Especially guys sitting on their couch for 18 months and who could be getting paid $2mil+ for this season, which is going to make a tough salary cap situation in 2014 even more difficult.

Not unless he's given guaranteed money... Then you aren't in the same situation at all. You've just done a "Roy Williams" kinda thing on the offensive line, i.e. little production for dead money against the cap.

once again trying to make an excuse for doing nothing on the O line.
