Stephen and Jerry Jones have Frisco announcement today. Wanna bet they squeeze in a meeting with Brian Waters during quick trip home?

I think we've all got that little bug in our ear that tells us almost every vet they have brought in came here to retire because jerry paid them. We were the end of career dumping ground. JMO, of course.

This is not what I meant.

To me, I would rather have a guy in camp who wants to play, not someone negotiating to miss camp, and will only play if the dollar amount is right. Also, I would rather not have someone who hasn't been on a field since January of 2012 - signing him is taking a leap of faith that there will be no skill erosion or potential for injury. With Waters being 36, this is a more likely occurrence than not due to his age.

Do I think that he would be an upgrade? Probably. I really wish that this would have been addressed prior to camp when it was apparent that the guard position was subpar.

Source tells me Cowboys negotiations with OG Brian Waters remain active. He signed late with Pats in 2011, missed no games, SB, Pro Bowl

I've talked to two people who have seen Waters recently, including one who worked out with him, and they both said he's in great shape. Rust is a concern after he's been out of football for 18 months, but he should be fine as far as conditioning goes.

If that is the case Waters could be the best Olineman on the team for 2013.

Bringing in Waters would be a HUGE upgrade along with Leary and Fred. Livings and Berndeau would be excellent backups. I actually like Bernadeau but he can't stay healthy to rely on. This Oline could be really good. I think Waters signs next week.

I'd really consider playing him in the dress rehearsal game.

I could see him playing maybe a series or so in the dress rehearsal game, maybe not with the starters, just to shake some rust out, then maybe a little more playing time in the final preseason game, to get him some more game-speed snaps.
