Now this is funny. Typical fan going for the flash instead of building a team the right way. The defense last year was the 3rd worst NFL defense of ALL TIME. We've addressed the depth with the FA signings. Both Spencer and Melton are coming off major injuries and no one knows if they're even going to be ready to play and even if they do, how effective will they be. Cowboys need to draft defense high and often.

Actually, drafting defense high and often it a typical fan statement.

What is the most recent news on his knee? I thought that it was kind of iffy that he'd be able to play again.

I think Broaddus and Spagnola said he is still rehabbing at the ranch and that he is still hobbled last time I heard.

NO guaranteed money. If he doesn't play well in the preseason, cut him and move on. I want this team to learn to be about business first. You can be compassionate, but not with the money. Just my opinion.
hope it isn't another one year 10mil deal lmao. Please be team friendly. Spencer knee this bad might not never be the same.

I'm fine with this. Get see what's up with him and knee. However, he should be part of a rotation. We need to continue to bring in players for the trenches for two reasons here. I think a rotation of guys will be good but also, if Spencer and Melton don't work out on these 1 year deals we're right back and square one. Draft trenches, don't be suckered into other stuff just because Spencer is signed.

He was our Defensive MVP in 2012. Would love to see if he can return to form on this 1 year contract.

This should not change the Cowboys approch to the draft one bit. While I like the signing, I'm not counting on him playing and producing until I see it on the field. We need to continue to build our team as if he won't be here long term.

Bless you, logic and common sense. I want to act like Romo isn't here or won't be for long (less than 2 years). I don't care who you are, I want a replacement in mind or on the team. No one point of failure.

mos def! This changes nothing we need to go all out on defense in the first 3 rounds.Unless we can get an upgrade on the Oline (Martin) :)

Yeah, that's a good move.

Who knows how effective he'll be but heck if he can give 400 decent snaps, it'll help- a lot.

I'm fine with that two. I'm all about going trenches and improving the front 7. The Spencer signing as a person to the rotation, still need to load the boot up.

I will crap myself if they draft manziel. With romo's cap the next two years why do we want a qb in the first just to sit him???

Exactly.....Spencer had no other options....his football career could entirely be over.... at this point you just hope Spencer can contribute this year...starting is a long shot.

So far we have
DT (4): Melton, McClain, Bass, Hayden
DE(3): Selvie, Spencer, Mincey
DT/DE(1): Crawford

We could still use maybe 2 DEs and 1 DT in this draft. At least 1 and 1. WDE is still a huge need.

It will be interesting to see if (provided he's healthy enough) the Cowboys keep him on the strong-side or move him (since he's probably their best pass-rusher if healthy) to the weak-side?
