Cowboys Have Re-signed Anthony Spencer

Spencer is an odd cat. When he's on, he's one of the top seven or eight pass rushers in the league.

this move can't hurt unless they are counting on him to start...if they treat this as a typical "throw it against the wall and see of it sticks" move, then I applaud the signing...always liked him, but if the "hobbling" reports are accurate, then he isn't going to playing at a high level any time soon (if at all)

After all the injuries on the defense the last two years. It really makes you wonder if Dominque Easley should even be on the Cowboys draft board. I just can't see adding another player with medical issues..... Its starting to look like a mash unit on the defense.

and you need to add Moe Claiborne to your list.

Well, I didn't add Claiborne because I said our most proven players on defense are either coming off microfracture surgery, ACL surgery, or a 5th consecutive year (including college) of missing half the season. Sadly, Claiborne isn't even good enough to make my list of "good, but injured" players.

If there are 10 other DL better than Bass then that is a good thing. He would've been Top 4 or 5 last year.

Bass is starting to enter Costa, Matt Johnson, AOA, and that QB/WR who ended up going to the Patriots a few years ago (forget name) territory. These are the CZ legends who never played a meaningful snap.

I don't know what to think until I see the contract (one year or not) and get some type of official report on how he is doing physically.

Tap the brakes, micro fracture surgery is no joke.I doubt he will contribute much.we should still draft a weak side DE.

My guess Spencer and Jeremy Mincy are battling for one roster spot...... I still think they are gonna try and make a deal for Anthony Barr

This is good news, from the point we can have some depth. I still would draft a DT & DE high in the draft. We need longer term players, not these one year signings.
I read where he has been running, but not cleared to practice. That may happen near TC.
If we go into TC and he can't go 100%, then it could be another wasted deal. I can see them being cautious in the 1st few weeks though, regardless of his knee though.

Does that mean draft needs change? I like him coming back, is he the left end or does he replace Dware on right side?

Defensive line is now fixed. Go get manziel

Don't think I'd call it fixed. Spencer (if he returns to form) and Melton (if he returns to form) are the only possible consistent threats on the line. We still need a stud right end at the very least.

A healthy Spencer would be amazing for thus DL. Spencer is an underrated pass rusher and run defender.

It'll have to be cheap and it'll have to be at least a 2 year deal to be a good move. I don't think he's going to do much at all this year, the guy still can't even run.

On talkin cowboys they said that he has been running on a treadmill, just not on his own. Apparently it doesn't stress it as much on a treadmill.
