Signed by Cowboys Cowboys hire Eagles secondary coach Christian Parker as DC

My bet from the videos I’ve seen of him is the energy he brings. Almost mirrors Shotty on the D side. We need that here desperately. Only thing I’m apprehensive about is him wanting DB’s for all the picks…

Hopefully he'll get us some good linebackers and pass rushers too. Then again, if we can get food linebackers in FA, then I'd be fine with a new safety and CB (especially if we can also get a good pass rusher). And I like that our HC and DC mirror each other that way. That brings good chemistry between the coaches, which is important.

Still, I like this hire. I think he has the potential to be a damn good DC for us with his track record.
I don’t dislike it. I have no reason to. I don’t know Parker from anyone else.

The only thing I have to go on is Jerry’s track record of coaching hires, especially his hand picked ones.

He isn’t getting the benefit of the doubt from me, but himself Parker does for now.

That's fair. For me, this doesn't feel like a typical Jerry hire, so I'll take it lol.

leanhard was going to the Giants to re-join harbaugh apparantly, unless Denver ups his pay , which the Waltons can absolutely do.
Glad jerry closed this deal and he must have outbid Green Bay money wise , which is refreshing for jerry as a classic bean counter who does not believe coahces should be paid much with all the talent he is providing them LOL
I don’t think Parker ever made it to Green Bay for an in person

48 hours ago, Wednesday was supposed to he morning with the Cowboys and afternoon with the Packers.

As the day went on, there was nothing coming out of Frisco, not even a “we’ve completed our interview” comment from the team.

At the same time, the GB fandom, beat reporters and front office had zero info. By late last night, the Pack came out with news that they would be interviewing Al Harris today (Thursday)

Late morning and suddenly the surprise news that Parker is a Cowboy.

I wonder if yesterday just ended up being an all day and dinner affair

I concur. No more retreads. Gamble on new blood which is up and coming.
It's better to get an ascending, young coach while they've still got energy and are hungry to go get it.

Not to mention that I think that the younger guys are a little more in touch with the modern game, while often still having gathered a ton of wisdom from the older coaches they work under, in this case Fangio who is one of the best to ever do it on defense. They also have an easier time connecting with the players than some guy in his 60s.

This has the potential to be a fantastic when it's all said and done.

And frankly, with how terrible the Eagles offense was last year, he and Fangio did awesome work. They were the ONLY reason the Eagles were dangerous last year. And we got Parker. That's a steal for us!

I don’t know about that. A perfect Jerry hire is someone who’s as old as him and won rings in the 90s.

Guys like Clayton Adam’s and Christian Parker require a certain type of knowledge about where the league is at and where it’s going thst I don’t believe Jerry is capable of doing.
Right. This is our first, first time DC since Brian Stewart (who had Wade overseeing the defense really)

Prior to that we had a bunch of first time DCs (Wannstedt, Davis, Campo, Zimmer) but all were internal hires and/or brought by Jimmy.

This is new ground.

I'd love for him to bring players with him like Nakobe Dean and Alex Singleton. If we can get both of them, our linebacker core (especially if we draft Styles as well) will be elite, which, given our dline rn (especially if we can draft a damn good pass rusher) is bound to make our defence dangerous.
Love the hire. He is from near my old stomping grounds at Battlefield High School.

I think he brings Blankenship with him.

He is going to need a captain back there that knows his scheme. I expect Blankenship and maybe Nakobe Dean.
