This phenomena happens every year…Jerry and Stephen start yapping about “special sauce” and “we like our guys” and how their team can win the Super Bowl; then Dallas beats up inferior teams and people start talking about Doomsday and Super Bowl, which the Cowboys buy into wholeheartedly and then get waxed in a game they should win and then wilt and whither in the playoffs. Then do nothing in the off-season to improve their chances of winning.

Fans have Jerry Fatigue and maybe thats our fault for many still buying the hype. Lesson learned, albeit a hard one.

What other team this year lost to the 49ers by 32 this season? The 49ers also "beat no one" going into the game. This was the game to determine the leader in the NFC, no excuses. Losing I can understand, but to be thoroughly beaten up and embarrassed on the national stage is very concerning.

The Cowboys never got off the bus and are deservedly the laughingstock of the NFL.
So a close loss would be a moral victory. Is that how you felt the last 2 playoff losses?

Everyone was calling SF one of if not the top team. A loss is a loss . Blowout just fuels the fire for those who looking for the ammo.

At least you admit . But we’ll have to see if they learn from it .

My concern is they are so desperate to want to buy in or believe instead of waiting for the concrete evidence and results to support. Especially with our history this era.

It amazes me the reaction after this loss. Like we need to totally scratch and start over.

It’s obvious how much too many fans bought into the SB hype and one of the best teams in the league. When will this foolish casual and wagon fanbase learn to pump the brakes until further evidence is provided.

Cowboy fans have been so deprived this era of more success are desperate to finally have built a true contender they grasp at the first sighting and allow themselves to be suckered in not only from our owner who relishes in generating the hype but the mediots who compound the problem.

This team had so many concerns coming in with how this new offense would develop, the health of our OL, the depth of our RB’s, not having a star TE not to mention other issues.

The overall selling point this season was that our defense could become an elite caliber carrying this team further than it had been. But there were concerns as well like could we finally stop the run. Had we actually found the answer up the middle in our defense. And the season begun with dominating fashion with one hiccup in the desert .

But many of us warned or cried out to pump the brakes until we faced a legit contender. The offense was struggling in the Redzone not needing to do too much with a defense setting the tone leading the league in turnovers again.

The horrible upset loss in AZ should have sent a shot across our bow that without the defense dominating we had some issues offensively. I think fans just assumed that McCarthys new Texas Coast offense would naturally be better than Moores offense. And our lopsided wins fans didn’t dissect much further.

This loss to SF didn’t surprise me at all. Nor most in my close circle of local Cowboy friends. What we did take away is the Gap has widened between us from last year. And we , at least at this point , aren’t a SB contender which basically supports what we had suspected.

The good news is we are probably closer to what we saw coming in . A 9 or 10 win team fighting for a Wild Card slot with one of the toughest schedules in the league. This happened a few years ago when we begun the season 3-0.

Our hope was our defense could make a difference carrying a lesser offense this year, one that in recent years had been top 5-10 with roles reversed with a top 5 defense carrying a lesser offense.

Now that reality has set in fans who had bought into this hype are reeling. They feel a total reset is needed. Perhaps some serious tweaks do need to be made. But none some of us had already warned about . It amazes me how this one loss has totally reversed these fan’s mentality. It just solidifies how much they had bought in.
I don't know many Cowboy fans that thought we were a Superbowl team. Most of us wait and see how the seasons play out. You are following the yearly media lie about us Cowboy fans. Don't fall for that false narrative. Every year there are Superbowl contending teams based on the past year projected by the media. Sometimes it is us and other teams sometimes it is not. It has been 28 years without a Superbowl. No way would most of us think Superbowl.

Maybe
But if we don't absolutely destroy the chargers defense we're toast.
A nine win season crawling into the playoffs is not a success IMO.
It’s more successful than not making the playoffs.

Nothing worse than less than 17 meaningful games and possibly more.

Especially with an ownership there’s no guarantee the changes you’d want would come in the event of less success.

The SB or Bust mentality is as bad as those so gullible buying into hype .

I think we will probably win this game but it will be close. I still cannot see us beating the eagles, twice, the bills, the dolphins and the lions. That is at least 4 losses right there. It will be an uphill battle to get to 10 wins and that means if we make the playoffs, we would have to be road warriors to get to the Super Bowl. There is nothing I have seen from this team that gives me confidence in winning 3 road playoff games and then a Super Bowl game.

what really gets me is the YT channels that continually ignore the facts...we know the channels I am referring to. They are nuthin more than hype and snake oil salesman. They ignore the herd of elephants in the room. Its mind boggling. I call them enablers.

You mean to tell me you didn’t think this forum had bought into the hype this season. I’d say it was the majority. And the media wasn’t far behind.

I didn’t follow it but most of the casual and wagon fans did. There was a buzz.

I actually think this game will be a watershed point in time for the team and MM/DQ. I think we will get beat and beat badly. The Chargers circled this game I am sure. They are desperate. They are at .500. Ekeler will feast. We talk about this being a KM game...but nah, we better focus on Ekeler. If I am right, this may be the game that we look back at that gets MM fired or Dak Benched. KM was a Jerry guy..his pet cat. If we go in there and get beat, the shiet will hit the fan fast.

True but our leadership led the way. The chatter was stronger this year. And more fans than usual bought in especially after early dominating wins. There was definitely a buzz . And I’d argue why the fall is so hard for them.

They are also over reacting now . Unfortunately their nonsense all too often dominates the airwaves whichever direction they go.

And the more sensible and logical perspective is written off as critical or negative while they go thru these incredible waves of emotion.

No, everyone didn’t see or buy in after the blowout wins against bottom feeder teams.

Diggs was not a lock down corner. He gave up a ton of yards . His 11 int season raised his visibility . It was a tough loss. But not one we couldn’t overcome. We lost 2 starting DB last year and still went on to playoffs .
In 2021 he gambled and was undisciplined with 11 Int's.

In 2022 he allowed nothing against some of the best, example:
Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase: two receptions for 14 yards.
Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson: two receptions for 19 yards.

I'm surprised your special circle didn't talk about this. The truth is on the field, the T. Diggs injury hurt our defense pretty bad.

BTW: It's been thirty years since we've been to the NFC championship game, everyone knows were a bunch of choking dogs.
We looked like a SB team before Diggs went down yes, doesn't mean I bought it. Yes need more info, like the SF game.

Besides Jerry......Dak Prescott is a major problem, Diggs injury is a major problem, LVE injury is a problem.

We're lucky to make a WC

Even though I agree with you, this post was made in hindsight. Should have been posted before the game.

The 2021 season should have tought even the worst homers that you shouldn't let this team get you hyped before post season. And every year people think that beating the "little ones" makes this team great. As of now we're probably the leader of the chasing pack, but not in the leading group. Ever since the KC game in '21 this hasnt changed. So basically nothing new here.

It was still fun to dream for a short moment though. Would have been so cool if we could have kicked these pesky miners butts.

Well well, there's always another season. "And that's the way that's going to be."

No doubt but like my father taught me early on in life that winning just makes it more fun.

Character and diehards are built on losing. Adjust those expectations and if you have some success appreciate more.

Cowboy fans got used to winning for decades. Fun fun

It’s past time this era they get used to losing.
Not as much fun

We’re 5 games in with 12 left to play. If this team makes the playoffs it will have earned it with the teams we have on the schedule. Lots of variables happen each week. Injuries to other teams etc. While SF is the best team in football currently, a season ending injury could derail that fast.
