Clayborn isnt good vs the run, but marinelli seems to have a way of getting the most out of his players. Wouldnt hate a deal for him for cheap. And thats what it will be a cheap 1yr deal IMO.

He is exactly the kind of guy we gamble on. Great competitor, plays through minor injuries. Bad luck twice early in his pro career does not mean we write him off.

Even if you buy your clothes at Wal-Mart, don't you also get some special duds from Nordstrom, Nieman Marcus, or Lord Taylor for those special days.? Sometimes quality is indisputable and you pay for it.

sure, but you also get some great bargains...you could get that comfy shirt that you keep for years

What's it going to be then, eh?

Whats up with everyone wanting to low ball a plplayer ? No one will sign a league minimal contract this early in free agency.
This is so some people can just think they can make a statement by saying essentially nothing.

This is a runner up to "I would sign him but only at the right price".

its incredible...people for some outrageous reason, seem to think players will just sign any deals that are put in front of them

we should really go after Suh and see if he will play on an incentive laden contract...if he doesnt get 10+ sacks, he only gets the vet minimum

fans are the new "GM's"... they shoulda never put franchise mode on madden.

Sounds like he can make a nice impact as part of our rotation, 6+ sacks easy in that scenario..

Or if he were so good, why is he available(Mickey Spags Special)!

with all these oft injured players maybe the NFL should expand the rosters to 75 on game day

He's available because of his injury history just like several of our current players. Dallas
has a penchant for 1st round players who have fallen on hard times and need a new start.
They usually come in for a reasonable amount for 1 or 2 years to prove themselves under
the guidance of our coaching staff. I think you may see several such players brought in
this year.

This is just the Mickey Spags line, not mine.

Even when he hasn't been injured he hasn't been very good.

I don't think he's ever played at a pro-bowl level, but I don't see how you can say when healthy he hasn't been very good. The 5.5 sacks he put up in 2013, would have been .5 sacks away from leading the team this year. His 7.5 as a rookie, would have comfortably put him in the lead.

I'd be okay with this, but he isn't going to come in here and be a real game changer. He'd probably play a role similar to that of Selvie; rather just keep Selvie.

He's terrible vs. the run.

And in his last full season as a starter he had 6 sacks in 955 snaps (a poor ratio for a 4-3 DE).

A healthier Spencer/Selvie combination can put up those numbers and play the run at a much higher level.

If you're looking for pass rush there are much better guys out there (who aren't upper echelon) like Sheard and Trent Cole.

879 defensive snaps in 2013. still not good.

But Mincey had 664 and had 6 sacks in 2014. Thats about 110 snaps per sack. which wouldve given him 8 sacks on an equal snap count. But Mincey is praised in Dallas. So if Clayborn is said to be terrible, shouldnt Mincey be labeled as just above terrible?

Clayborn made 64 tackles in 2013
Mincey 36 which is so he ends up with maybe 48 tackles?

What im saying is clayborn was bad but Mincey is not much better. But because he is a Cowboy we tend to overrate him. He's bad too.

I would like a Clayborn signing. Young with still room to grow. He would be a good base DE who comes off of the field in sure passing situations and late in games where we are ahead.

Clayborn + a 2nd/3rd round draft pick who is a pass rush specialist could be a good way to address DE without overpaying or reaching in the 1st

Who's praising Mincey?

He was a good value for the dollars invested.

On a good defensive line Mincey would be the #3 guy.

Is that what the Cowboys need? Another #3 guy?

I would like to think the Cowboys would go after a guy who has a little better pass rush acumen.
