If the Cowboys signed Peppers and Melton, then drafted 2 defensive lineman in two of the first 3 rounds I would feel much better about the defensive line and the depth considering Selvie, Bass, Crawford, and Hayden will also be back. Of course there would still be questions, but at that point I believe the line could be improved over last year.

There are only 3 4-3 teams that pick behind us and 1 has Geno Atkins another has Star Lotuleli. The Panthers & Bengals won't be selecting a 3 tech in round 1 but the last team on the list the Seahawks might.

I can see it now. He falls to us at 16, we trade down, another team jumps ahead of us and takes him. If that happens, being a mod is really gonna be challenging. :)

i agree but i really wouldnt want us to get cute with it. ive seen teams take players that they dont have a need for before. some teams really stick to their bard and draft the guy and figure a way to make the player work.

I'd bring in Peppers at the right price but under no circumstances do I give him more than a 2 year deal unless the contract is done in a way that he can be cut with little to no damage in the third year or maybe some kind of option or something.

He's better than anything we have right now and would be a perfect plug in while we rebuild the line. Like Risen Star mentioned, the thought of drafting a rookie and the best veteran presence for him to learn from being Selvie is just...yikes. Yikes is the word. The man was dominant at one point and being a mentor to young guys has some appeal to it right?

Perhaps him being with his old coach will do something for him? Who knows but there's a comfort level there that older veterans value. No one expects him to be what he was but what else do we have, a cheap deal is worth the it to find out and to help transition.

Over the last 3 seasons Peppers has averaged 39 QB hurries a season. Selvie had 32 last season. Ware had 34. Peppers had 53 in 2012, 37 in 2012, 27 in 2013.

Which Peppers are we getting? How much tread on those tires?

I hope we don't overpay. Probably will.

It's teams like the Raiders that players like Ware and Hatcher (and soon to be Peppers) can thank for their big contracts. They have so much cap room they have a long way to go to meet the 89% figure. They are bidding these babies up.

You honestly think Aaron Donald would fall to the Seahawks or the early 2nd? There's absolutely no chance.
