In the absence of a trade Avante Collins makes the team as depth . Next men up . In no way shape or form should Dallas concede anything .

Oh boy this is going to be a mess unless they at least get someone signed soon. Maybe a young promising guy that is better gets cut from some team. Wishful thinking.
Yes it's a dumpster fire, and many are upset because the front office did not sign any vet backups for LT.
It's not like this should have been unexpected.
Tyrone has not played a complete season in 6 years.

Have we been wrong about Ball

Lol i hope dak is ready to turn into Lamar Jackson and constantly run.

Its the cowboys fault u can count on Tyron gettng hurt at some point in the season every season. We should of got a valid backuo with experience. We sat on our hands. LT is the most important piece on the Offensive Line. We rolles the dice and crapped out.

Way to be cheap Cowboys.

That was rookie Larry Allen vs the 10 year NFL veteran and 6 time All Pro Reggie White.

Dallas won the playoff game vs Green Bay that season 35-9...

Post clips from 92 when Erik Williams whipped Reggie White so bad that RW cried on camera.
Damn,x, could you post that..it would be great to see that again.

To be honest Josh Ball has become extremely valuable as probable game one starter at LT. Why play him in a totally meaningless Seattle game. Start Avante Collins with Alarcon as your second half starter .

Josh Ball needs a year of steroids in the weight room folks. He’s just not strong enough yet

John McClain veteran Sportswriter Houston Chronicle threw this possible trade out for discussion . Laremy Tunsil at 28 not too old for the Cowboys # 1 in 23. Solves your tackle issue for some yrs to come on the downside he’s 18 mill on your sal cap hit next season . That’s approaching Amari Cooper expensive plus no number one next yr…too expensive for my tastes.

Have we been wrong about Ball

Ball advocate here... and yeah. full disclosure... Marshall alum... answering the question of the OP.

Yes you have.

And no you haven't.

Yes, it's been brutal to read the over-the-top posts that... for someone who has been studying practically every snap, focused squarely on #75... suggest he's just not even an NFL player. As was said from the start, but largely ignored, this is his rookie season. An objective analysis recognizes that, and treats him just like you'd treat a 4th rounder drafted a few months ago. And moreover, some of us recall vividly (not many, apparently, but some) how quick too many were to dismiss the undrafted free agent now starting on the right side.

No, you haven't, at least those of you who felt he's not really shown reason for full confidence that he can be counted on as the swing tackle. He's shown substantially more reason for confidence than he's been given credit, as the OP video suggests, but even I choke on "full" confidence.

(Mind you, I've been one of those this entire time since the draft who even felt it was too risky to assume our first round pick would start... and that, having full confidence in your starter on the O-line was, believe it or not, more urgent than having full confidence in your swing tackle situation.)

My conclusions...

1. You do have to go get yourself a good-enough starting tackle... and, now, yes, you're probably going to have to just swallow hard and hope Ball can handle the swing slot.

2. Ball really did have himself a really good night in SoFi on Saturday, and I contend, even better than the OP video suggests. He had the one TFL, but other than that, he did everything at least adequately, and in some cases, really well.

"What about that other play that the video reviewer pointed out, where Ball didn't get off the block to stymie the LB running that stunt to his side?"

Look closer than the reviewer did, and bear in mind (a) timing and (b) that when a lineman has to make a choice b/t two different players coming at his QB on a pass play, the worst thing he can do is assume the d-lineman closest to his QB is going to get picked up... ie, you can't go outside and get that other guy, unless you know this inside rusher--the guy with the more direct route--is sealed off.

Ball made the right choice given the circumstances. Maybe after he and Tyler play together more, and develop some chemistry, Ball can feel more comfortable that passing off the inside rusher will work out. He couldn't do that, though, and I feel pretty certain the coaches complimented him rather than chastized him for what they saw on that play.
