Ball was wayyy better in his second ever NFL game than he was in his first ever NFL game.

He makes some mistakes but he is much better than fans are making him out to be. He will improve… but he is going to make some mistakes too.

Also, in the preseason game, they did nothing scheme wise to help Ball out. They wanted to see what he could do. In the real games, they’re going to help him some.

Honestly, it isn’t the disaster that it is being made out to be. Although, I’d rather have Tyron.
I hope so

90% of this board knows very little of Josh Ball. Maybe he develops. I don't like the plan as of now, but I'm not going to spout off about how terrible an unknown is.

Yall all said the same thing about Steele.

Almost everyone gave Rush no chance to perform against the viking, self included.

Again, I'm not comfortable with where we are.

Not crazy about Ball starting but I think he will. I think doing massive shuffle of the OL could weaken the entire unit. I would prefer to get a vet in here but should that not happen I think it will fall to Josh Ball to do the job

It's also concerning because Tyler could really use Tyron beside him. It really hits us hard in two spots, directly next to one another.

All indications thus far in Ball's career is that he's ill-prepared to take over as a start at LT for Tyron Smith. His performances in practices at camp have been far less than acceptable. To put it bluntly, he sucks! The FO is feverishly looking to resolve their LT mess with Andrew Whitworth being their latest candidate to replace Tyron. He's awaiting permission from his family to allow him to go forward with a possible signing. We'll see about this ASAP. Keep in touch for upcoming information to be continued.

All I know is that before the TS injury I haven't heard how awesome ball has been in camp. Heard some negative reviews and they hoped the other late pick could get on the field soon. Maybe ball or the other guy would do better if the coaches weren't terrible.

Thanks for being a voice of honest evaluation. I believe he hadn't played a game in 20 mths before Denver. People want to assign the JAG label regardless of what evidence is or isn't available.

Neither you nor I are saying he will "definitely turn out to be starter material", but at least we understand you have to give them a chance before deciding they aren't.

Yeah, he hasn’t been good… but he definitely improved from his first game to his second. He needs time, unfortunately… because that is something we don’t have a lot of.

Have we been wrong about Ball

This video made a feel better about Ball, so I figure I should give him a good look tonight. I remain neutral on JB, but way down on the FO for putting him and Tyler in this situation.

Larry Allen was a rookie when Reggie did that to him. And if I am not mistaken, Allen also was playing on a bad ankle.

But what this shows is just how good Erik Williams was because Reggie White was the one getting beat up in those battles.

I worry that Ball is not quick enough to play LT, at least not yet. Maybe he needs experience. Either way, we can expect some rough moments for him this season.

We may have to lower our expectations for the offense. It is the defense that needs to step up.
