There's more positive than negative in being no1 on this list.

We can spot talent and draft pretty well.

Other posters have said it, we overpay our good, not great players so Jerry's famous "pie" can't go round further to bring in 1 or 2 FAs who maybe could take us over the top.

I'm broadly sticking with "glass half full" though with my feelings on being top of this list.

This is not a positive stat!

If they are not winning or getting close to a championship, who cares?

Same with the “great” drafts!! The team doesn’t even have to win.. imagine that? Everything that’s positive here is based on individual achievements. And surprisingly enough those great drafts and this ridiculous homegrown garbage somehow aren’t enough! They could’ve had great drafts and might’ve even won more if they didn’t make the 2nd round a joke every year. You’d think they would learn a lesson when a particular philosophy isn’t working? But not the 80 year old GM, he’ll double down instead!

He has never suffered the consequences of poor management, he keeps getting rewarded.

He looks at it as let's see if we can get some good talent in here along with a HC that will stay the hell out of my way and let me be the face of the franchise.

Funny the Rams are third and everyone thinks they go all out in FA.
Both teams have been drafting well.

Not sure why it's so hard for folks to acknowledge at least that much.
Sure, they have misses, but compared to the whole league, they have drafted well.

Homegrown = players on an active roster in the NFL based on what team they originally were signed/drafted by

All of those teams are playoff contenders and most of (not all) Super Bowl contenders are in there too

Sadly that’s the reality of the situation and there will never be any consequences!

any team could have the most home grown player if they never sign any free agent or trade for people

that is not a big acomlishment
You look at that list and notice the only team that has not SNIFFED getting even to a SB?
So that indicates it is a worthless stat.

It’s not working so it’s not good when we only utilize ONE area to attempt to build a team

If anything, it really shines a light on how terrible they are in every other aspect. That cups not half full, there’s a hole in it.

Winning 12 games and losing by one score in the playoffs is SNIFFING.

The Cowboys needed to win 3 playoff games to even reach the SB last season. They won zero.

Being the only home favorite to get bounced that weekend wasn't sniffing anything. Just the usual hype train getting stuck at the station.

I was going to say the same thing. It still comes down to homegrown players, but people see this as a bad thing for the Cowboys.

It's actually a good thing. The Cowboys are smart for keeping the cap space, especially if they want to sign Parsons and Diggs down the line.

In some ways, the open cap space is like dangling a carrot in front of players. Play well, and we have the means to pay you well. I actually like it, as an incentive.

It's kind of difficult to say, hey, we have a job for you next year . . . when you don't have any money.

This is generally a really good thing for a team. However, it is frustrating because if they would be just a little more active in veteran free agency, they would be an even better team.

But, yeah, they are absolutely one of the best drafting teams.

But we're not done. If we sign Peters, then we took the right course in free agency. Fans are just impatient.

1 play away from winning that game.
