I would take a look at him for a backup. Let him build up his confidence for a year.

He is still isn't a FA yet. SF may change their minds. He has a team friendly contract that they can gt out of anytime. If a new coach comes in they might love Kap.

uhhhhhhhhhh...no. He can't throw.....at all.

The OL could have something to do with that. Romo got crushed twice this season and even Weeden looked pretty good after he left.
Romo wasn't originally injured because of being pressured or sacked too often, but because of the way he fell and was tackled on one play. The second time, it was because he tried to play before the bone had healed properly. He'd have been hurt on those two plays, even if they were the only times he'd been hit all season. That's not how you judge your OL's pass protection.

You have to look at every dropback to see how often your quarterback gets sacked, hit, or hurried because of the offensive line. Then compare that to every other team's number. The following is from PFF. No ratings, just a record of sacks, hits, and hurries allowed by the offensive line as a percentage of total dropbacks.

I apologize if you have covered this. If the #3 Chargers and #4 Cowboys both lose, what are the odds that we pass them in SOS? I do not know if the following will be enough to pass them in SOS, be here is what you root for:

1. Seahawks lose to Cardinals (Cowboys played Seahawks - We need Seahawks record worse)
2. Patriots lose to Dolphins (Cowboys played Patriots... both Chargers & Cowboys played Dolphins - We need Patriots record worse)
3. Packers lose to Vikings (Chargers played Vikings... both Chargers & Cowboys played Packers - We need Vikings record better as that strengthens Chargers SOS)
4. Texans lose to Jaguars (Chargers played Jaguars - We need Jaguars record better as that strengthens Chargers SOS)

#1 & #3 are reasonable chances... #2 & #4 are long-shots. Does not look promising to pass the Chargers, but this what you are rooting for (assuming Chargers do not pull the miracle upset of Denver and make this analysis moot.)

I'm going to quote myself here. I wonder if the Cowboys could secure the #3 slot now even if the Chargers lose. The SOS was very close between the Cowboys and the Chargers going into today.

3 of the 4 above scenarios could still happen. #1 & #3 above could still happen. #2 - The Patriots lost but #4 Texans won.

Root for the Cardinals and Vikings in late games.

Wow I'm honestly surprised. I never felt like we dominated the line of scrimmage like last year.

So 25% of the time a cowboy qb was sacked, Romo got hurt. That's not very good to know.

We get the 3rd if Chargers win. If they lose, we get 4th. No matter what 49ers do.

Thanks PJ, once I saw the post a couple above explaining, I deleted my post. Reason I was confused was CBS Sports said we are 3rd or 4th, but the The Ticket in Dallas was saying we could be as low as 5.

no, the best we could have hoped for was a coin flip, since the Dolphins won + Jags lost. But Seattle ruined that

Well, it's going down to the wire in Denver. Chargers are giving it a real go. They are up 3 with 10 min's to go but the Broncos are inside the 20...stuffed them. FG coming up and probable tie.

Not too worried about the Chargers because I don't see them taking a QB, but I'd still like to get that 3rd pick. Question is, will we get the wrong end of the Aaron Rogers/Alex Smith 2.0 stick now that Cleveland has first dibs?

This is why I want to trade down from #4 to pick #10 or so. You could still get Ezekiel Elliott in the first and Carson Wentz in the second, but still pick up a starting caliber CB, LB or WR with the extra second.

BTW, with the Cowboys picking at 4, the standard chart you see for trade value has it as almost perfect fit to trade the fourth pick for the 10th pick and the 10th pick of the second round.

I don't think SD has the same needs the Cowboys do, so I don't think it's a huge deal...

In round 2, Dallas will pick ahead of the Chargers.
