The pick for Dallas if available is an easy one, it's Treadwell no other player in the top 5 will have an impact like he will have for the team. Elliot is my second choice but we need more help at WR than at RB. We need a player that can stretch the field and feared by all defenses. I liked what I saw in Butler the last game, but can we trust him?

Like some have mentioned picking a QB is not the way to go. FA can solve that problem instead of drafting one that will sit on the bench for the next 3 to 4 years.

And Romo will be 36 next year and is injury prone.

He's missed 2 games in 4 years before this season and except for Eli, just about every Qb has missed significant time at one point or another in their career including Luck, Brady, Rodgers and Roethlisberger.

Also, injuries happen but the key is to get back before the end of the season - that's the killer.

I'm not saying you're wrong but i think he deserves next year to see if it's become a trend.

Yeah that's really worked well...

Orton
Weeden
Cassel

Yup..

So you would trust a kid out of college instead?. lets look at the biggest QB draft busts.

David Woodley. Quincey Carter Kordell Stewart Rob Johnson Jason Campbell Dante Culpepper
Matt Leinhart. Rex Grossman. Bryron leftwich Chad Pennington. Mark Malone. Kerry Collins
Brady Quinn. Jeff George Vince Young. Joey Harrington. JaMarcus Russell. Art schlichter. Tim Tebow
Ryan Leaf.

It's a hit and miss even in the draft.

Every year it's another injury he's dealing with. One season, he played a bunch of games with a broken rib when he should have been sitting.

this! exactly! all these folks who think our defense is an issue need to heed this language. our defense is dependent on our offense. its always been that way. we cant score many points and our defense wont be able to hold on for long.

The OL didn't look nearly as impressive without Callihan. If we can get the QB we want for the future with our first pick then great; he can sit 2 years like Aaron Rodgers. Otherwise I would be happier with some defensive picks and seeing if we can figure out how to get the OL playing like they did last year.

so, without tie-breakers, Dallas needs to remain at 4 wins after sunday and also have Tenn, Clev, SF and SD to win....the only one of those 4 teams I see with a chance to win is SF (at home against StL, also playing for draft picks)...Tenn @ Indy, Clev hosting Pitt that NEEDS the win, SD @ Denver that NEEDS the win...at least there is something to watch this sunday

We will be picking 8th. Garrett is the only one dumb enough to think a meaningless win over a team resting its starters is a good thing. All the other 3-4-5 win teams will lose tomorrow. We will be the only team to win and we will watch the top players go off the board before we pick. I hope I'm wrong and the skins go out and try to win but I doubt it.

Agree - and so is just about every other quarterback at one time or another during the season. 12 starting QB's will miss a combined 55 games this season including Flacco, Taylor, Cutler, Manning, Romo, Dalton, Roethlisberger, Luck, Hoyer, Bradford, McCown and if it wasn't the end of the season Brees would need surgery on his foot and really has no business paying the last two games.

Some of it's luck, some of it's age but Romo's current injury, injury status or potential for injury next season is not an anomaly and should not be an indicator of future injury.

With all that said we must start looking for his replacement.

My gut says Goeff, Lynch, and Cook are just younger versions of Gabbert, Ponder, and Weeden.

Garrett has and always will do, whatever the Jones' tell him.

A FA isn't likely to solve the teams backup QB problem we'll just end up with another Weeden or Cassel. Teams don't let go of good backup QBs they're too valuable so the Cowboys best chance to find a solid backup is to draft one. They can't draft a QB in the top 5-10 and sell on them on the fanbase as a backup and that Romo still has several years left that's not going to set well with with anyone when you're coming off a losing season.

Drafting a QB in the second round would make sense it gives us a decent chance of landing a solid backup who might develop into a solid starter down the road. The team also has to figure out a system that allows them to incorporate a backup into the offense giving them a chance to win some games and stay afloat if and when Romo goes down again.

Have you watched their tape?

I haven't watched their tape but Locker's, Ponder's and Gabbert's tape must have looked pretty good for them to all get taken in the first 12 picks. They were the only QBs to go in the first round in 2011 and all went bust. Your odds on landing a franchise QB that's going lead your team for years is less than 50-50 regardless of how high in the draft you take them. This is why you don't take a QB in the top 5-10 unless you're in desperate need of one.

If we draft a QB with the 4-8th pick, it will be to replace Romo in 2 years or less if he gets hurt again.

A back-up can be found in FA if we want to spend some money. One year and 5m will get us a solid QB. Someone that wants to prove they are still a starter but likes money as well.
