it really don't matter to much as you could see from last season if tony goes down its over and yes if they just keep the young guys there preseason games will be awful to watch but so will there regular season games if tony is not there

McCown (or any older fairly reliable vet) makes sense if you
1) want a vet who can step in for a game or three if Romo goes down (any more than that and it may not matter)
2) you want guy in mentor mode to help develop Prescott...so Prescott is not a threat
3) a guy that is short term--so we can draft our future next year unless Prescott blows them away this year--which is unlikely.

They interviewed Dak 7 times, but they had about that many QBs rated ahead if him that they wanted to take. Even Conner Cook was ahead if Dak on there draft board and they was going to draft him if he was still available. I think Dak is nothing more than a roll of the dice. They are hoping he will develop into a decent backup, nothing more.

Many believe he is only a hopefully capable back up but if you think there are happy fans in here let me introduce you to Jerry Jones the eternal optimist. I believe whole heartedly they think his ceiling is much higher than back up. As far as seven QBs ahead of him I haven't seen that. I know there are supposed draft board leaks but Im not sure I buy into those. Also wed have to take into consideration how far apart they were. If number 4 and number 7 were only marginally separated in thier rankings than it made sense to wait on Dak. Myself I dont watch alot of college so I can only look at stats and draft evaluations. Call me Jerry Jr, Im hoping the kid suprises us.

If I were them I would just go with Showers and Prescott for as long as possible and see who becomes available later on.



When you use 2nd rounders on guys who can't play it really kinda makes me wish we would've packaged that to move up a couple spots and take Wentz.

another shot at a future franchise QB. We all know that don't we. I just hope we don't go giving away
draft picks cause we already have given away the 5th. We need all the picks we can get cause no

in a sense he could be a rental player, but depending on how he does, he could be resigned...he isnt going to command starters money. i'm pretty high on Glennon as a future starter in this league.

Fair enough.

I just think historically in their 1st year, even HOFers are not at McCown's level in their very 1st year. They almost all have a really low rating and throw more picks than TDs.
But yeah, by the next year the dividends have been paid and they start to take off some.

GB is a lot like we are. IMO we have a better overall roster but Rodgers and the Packers scheme are so good that it's a tough matchup for anyone.

If Rodgers and Romo go down I feel better about the Packers chances of winning even though we have a better roster.

I am too. But I think other teams are as well, and he's not going to give up his chance at free agency in 2017 cheaply.

When Osweiler gets the deal he did after what? 7 games? Glennon is gong to want to get his shot at some money.
