Cowboys looking at teams for RB trade?

Wait, so you are saying that Jones did that trade knowing he had the upper hand?

It was a shot in the dark for player on the retired list with a little to no value deal involved.

The Ravens did not assume risk, he was done and gone. Jones traded for hope. And it paid off to his credit.

There is a difference between taking that versus dealing with known commodities and judging value.

First that wasn't your original point...you're changing the argument now

And more importantly, it doesn't matter how you slice it, it was a very good deal..

Just bc he's lost on most of his trades, doesn't mean we can't recognize the good ones...no matter how few and far in between

This has been discussed over 1000 times I don't see how you haven't seen the answer to that question in all the other McFadden threads. Latavius DID not perform better behind the line than McFadden. Murrays numbers are skewed because he has a huge 90 yard run against the chiefs that blows his ypc up giving him an average of 28 ypc in that one game. He also had 4 carries against the chargers and ended with 10 ypc in that game so saying he averaged 5 yards a carry behind Oakland line is bull****. When he got full time carries on the month of December he averaged 3.7 3.3 and 3.7 as a starter. Oakland line was trash period nobody is looking good behind it. McFadden about to be on a team full of talent and he's gonna blow up
Murray may not be much better then McFadden, but McFadden is definitely not better then Murray. His numbers are skewed because of big runs, but subtract those and he still had better production then McFadden. Rashad Jenning was significantly better then McFadden in 2013.

Oaklands OL sure didnt help him, but McFadden is simply not a starting HB in the NFL anymore. And if anyone thinks our line is going to magicaly make him so, so look at game tape of Derrick Lassic, Sherman Williams and Blair Thomas, two talented second round picks and the 1990 #2 overall pick ( the same draft as Emmitt ) behind on of if not the best OL in NFL history

Spin it as you wish. Why didn't McFadden have that 90 yard run instead of Murray?.....

This game is about opportunity and Murray clearly eclipsed the veteran in that area.

Keep right on spinning it. I don't care how many times it has been hashed and rehashed. McFadden had every opportunity to make the argument tilt in his favor against the rook.

Plus subtract those runs and Murray was still the better.

And to play fair you need to 1) Subtract his shortest runs as well 2) Subtract McFaddens longest and shortest runs

I can see someone not being especially motivated while in Oakland. Hell even one of the greatest receivers of all time didn't do squat there. Let's at least let training camp start before we start trading picks/players.

If the Cowboys are going to trade for a RB, and I can not believe I am saying this, but if they are going to do it, then Peterson is the only back that I would be willing to give up a decent amount for. Everyone acts like Leary is dispensable now but he was solid last year and we are not 100% sure what Collins will bring. He probably will be great but I am not sure I want to trade Leary in case Collins has a tough time as a rookie. Protecting Romo is my number one priority this year.

Looking at who we could possibly trade for, I do not think anyone out there is necessarily better than what we already have, with the exception of Peterson. Matt Forte has lost a step and I think what we have already is just as good. Same with any Dolphin RB available for trade.

I say we go with what we have or sign someone like Chris Johnson and go. If a trade is going to be made, do it for someone who is obviously better than what we have and the only one who meets that criteria is probably Peterson. I am not saying I want Peterson here, I am very much against it because of what it would likely cost, but if you are gonna make a trade, might as well swing for the fences.

These three teams do not have much though. I know people think Khiry Robinson, I wouldn't trade Leary for him. Knile Davis does not appeal to me either. I would be surprised if Miami deals Lamar Miller.

I wouldn't trade Leary for any of those guys. Leary is a good player.

I just can't see Dallas wanting to trade Leary before this season. They have him cheap (and they have his competition, Collins cheap too). It makes more sense to see how things shake out over the course of this season before making a trade for a RB.

If Doug Free has an injury or they decide that Collins is best at RT, Dallas could very well end up with Leary as a long term starter at LG and Collins the RT and Free out after this year.

Maybe they had discussions about it, but I can't see them getting rid of Leary this year.

Here is the list of the top RB last year...thinks its best to see what McFadden and Randel can do in preseason. Then look at other options look at C Johnson or Ben Tate. Dont see a trade available/worthy for anyone but AP. Sirrius NFL discussed Claiborne and a 1st for AP....but decided it was to much for a 30yr old RB with big salary cap hit

It is a shame that New Orleans re-signed Ingram. Dallas would have signed him for a reasonable contract had he been available.

Oh Well. New Orleans is going to model themselves after what Dallas did last year, you can already tell. Letting Graham go for Max Unger and then getting Peat (OT) in round 1 of the draft, along with Re-signing Ingram and trading WR Kenny Stills lets you know what they want to do.

LOL, suddenly everyone want to be like Mike (Dallas).

Seriously? Have you not watched McFadden for the past 7 years of his NFL career?

His production has been abysmal and his reliability has been terrible.

People claim to want no part of Chris Johnson but want to defend this guy when the reality of it shows that Johnson has crushed McFadden in every category. It's not even close!

Good point...I am not a huge McFadden fan but I will say that I am guilty of preferring McFadden to Chris Johnson. I think it's more about likability factor. Chris Johnson just seems like a me first player who will be a locker room cancer if he has to share the carries. McFadden is more humble and likable.

Its Knile Davis.

Perfect fit for this offense. I would be stoked to find out we got him. Still this year and next to be on a rookie contract.

Go back and watch what he did and the stats he put up with charles out. KC doesnt nearly have the QB, wrs and Oline that Dallas has.

Knile would put up 1500 yards in this offense

Gotcha, but I'm not going to act like I know everything and be sarcastic. But to answer your question: everybody that watches football knows.. that the best football players on the field get targeted. And if your the best on your sorry team, you get targeted more. This also leads to more injuries.. its not hard to understand. When the best back comes off the field and the back ups come in.. maybe the defense is thinking pass, but Latavius surprises them and capitalizes on this.. maybe McFadden wasn't a great scheme fit for the 20th head coach.. who knows? But I can tell you this.. just because Joseph Randle averaged 6.7 ypc, doesn't mean he was better than Demarco Murray. Say what you want about McFadden, but the fact is he was on a Sorry team that has been terrible since he was touted as the best back in a decade. I think he still has a lot in the tank.. and I love having players that have something to prove to the world.

Was going to say that Randle came in and looked better then Murray. But yet everybody wants to get rid of him. ......nobody is consistent. Me personally I feel McFadden can stay healthy for one change of scenery and two he will run 5 yards before he is touched.

Murray had 800 plus yards before contact, you give someone with blazing speed life McFadden some room and he is gone

I took your advise and went to look and see what Knile Davis did with Charles out....

He did the same as he did the previous year..... 3.5 ypc....
I don't feel awesome about trading for another <4YPC guy on the committee.

Check out Forsett. Top 5 guy last season. Journeyman. 3rd down back type. Great OL. Blew up. Best case for McFadden?

Flip side is Lynch. His mentality infused that whole team with a swagger. Even before they were Seattle he played with an edge. Can't really imagine them without him. Worst case is that guy now playing in PHI.
