Cowboys looking at teams for RB trade?

Maybe you should be asking if any runningback out there is better than Dunbar? How bout if they are going to be more productive than Ryan Williams? Who hasn't played a game since 2011.

Frankly, I think we could use a bellcow type of back. Some teams have more than enough to trade with. Since we got Collin's on the team and is projected to start I don't see why we wouldn't be dangling Leary as bait. I actually think its a great idea.

I would be all for trading Leary for a back if the back was at least good enough to be a leading back on our team. Just being good enough to replace Dunbar or Williams doesn't seem like enough. Why have another back sit and watch McFadden and Randle? I would rather hold on to the Guard that started and played very well for us all last year.

Does anyone else get the feeling that this is 'news' bring drummed up in an attempt to get the Vikings to do something with Peterson?

Maybe I'm seeing something that isn't there, but this talk about other running backs being available has seemingly come out of nowhere after Jerry's '1st rounder' quote from last week.

I'd rather trade a 2016 pick than Leary.

Or just knuckleheads like Dennis and Broaddus speculating.

I don't think the chiefs will let go of Davis - are they in need of a O Line?

“He brings a different style to our offense,” quarterback Alex Smith said. “He’s a physical back, a big back who can really run. You have a little bit of a pounding effect on the defense and gives the guys up front that mentality that you can pound it with Knile. I thought he did a good job in protection and in the pass game as well.”

Davis hasn’t allowed any pressure on Smith so far this season (41 passing plays) and on Sunday against Denver, caught six of nine targets for 26 yards

I don't know much about Knile Davis but his production has been awful since he entered the league. 3.5 ypc isn't the type of player I want to trade my starting Guard for.

Agree. I think Leary is worth more than just a backup just to replace Dunbar. I'm just specifying that Dunbar hasn't done much to really contribute and that we can substitute him for a bellcow type of back who has a punishing style just like Murray. Not saying to replace Dunbar or Williams just for the sake of replacing them. Just that right now there is so much more we can do rather than stick with the group we have. Like what someone stated before. He doesn't think the starting back is on the team right now. I tend to agree.

I might do it for Mark Ingram. I think he is a pretty physical back who is a quality blocker, good out of the backfield.

I too am not sure if the talk was just to muddy the waters to get the RB loosed that they really want or if they are truly looking for a "Bellcow" I'm just happy that this kind of talk does seem to signal that we don't have a "Bellcow" in the bunch & that the concern of "RBBC" is not just with the fans, I'm glad "Talks" are taking place that could lead to a Geniue Definite Article RB coming here to run behind this line. I know each "Team" that's fielded each year is different from the previous year but every Cowboy's Super Bowl team had a Back we could name & was a very prominent piece to their success & I don't see it in the four backs we have, so I'm super happy there's at least expanding interest in getting this Cowboy's team a "Bellcow" Back!

Just guess but we could get more for Leary in a trade then any camp pick. But I would rather just sign him to an extension. That would give an awesome trio of guards.

Here's why I'm leery of trading Leary: Doug Free.

It would be a nightmare if Collins takes over for Leary, we trade Leary, and then Free gets hurt again and all of a sudden we are depending on Chaz Green. Right now, Leary is a luxury, but he's an incredibly cheap insurance plan. That's valuable. I would only trade him for the likes of AD or Lamar Miller. No way do I trade him for a guy who may or may not beat out Joseph Randle.

After hearing so much "it's going to be RBC so get used to it" drivel lately from some of my fellow fans, it's nice to see a thread like this. This thread reminds me why I love the zone so much.

I am NOT happy or on board with the current pool of RBs on our squad.
I do NOT want to face the very real possibility of regressing this year.
I DO strongly believe we will trade for another back.

This discussion is refreshing.

I watch a lot of chiefs games and kniles davis would be a great running back for this offense. to me he is the same type of running back that murray is. I think that davis could easily carry 20 to 25 times a game. he also is great at pass blocking. plus he still has two years left before he is a free agent.

I'd be more than ok with Mark Ingram. Dallas should have jumped on this earlier when they knew Murray wasn't coming back before the Saints signed him to a contract. Now it might not be possible to get him here because he already signed a contract. I could be wrong.

He did sign a contract 4 year, $16,000,000 contract with the New Orleans Saints, including a $3,600,000 signing bonus, $7,600,000 guaranteed but then they also signed CJ Spiller. Dallas still can offer a trade if they are interested him. Again I don't know how factual this report is about Dallas seeking to trade Leary.

Thats a pretty reasonable contract which I think the Cowboys can deal with. Less than half of what Murray got. I would do it. He's a good runner and I remember Garrett saying good things about him before.
