I honestly think there is a disconnect between what the coaches think they need and what the top-brass believes is needed.

If you believe what people like Gary Brown are saying they are not quite ready to trust Randle yet.

Meanwhile, ownership is saying Randle is "on his way".

“First of all, let’s talk on the field, and I have a lot of trust in his abilities. I think he’s very capable and I know that it’s been my experience, I’ve experienced first hand, the incidences off the field are learning experiences."

I don't think the chiefs will let go of Davis - are they in need of a O Line?

“He brings a different style to our offense,” quarterback Alex Smith said. “He’s a physical back, a big back who can really run. You have a little bit of a pounding effect on the defense and gives the guys up front that mentality that you can pound it with Knile. I thought he did a good job in protection and in the pass game as well.”

Davis hasn’t allowed any pressure on Smith so far this season (41 passing plays) and on Sunday against Denver, caught six of nine targets for 26 yards

I think all concerned are honest with each other behind closed door, I think sometimes what you say publicly is trying to put a positive spin on things. If Dallas is looking to trade a player like Leary as the report indicates for the purpose of getting a RB in here then to me that shows they are concerned about this. I think as Garrett said before Murray left, that while keeping Murray was important there is clearly a business aspect to this as well.

Maybe. They did get Grubbs, depends on how they feel about Jeff Allen at the other spot (they also drafted Mitch Morse). But if they got rid of Davis, they really only have Cyrus Gray to back up.

I was okay with letting Murray walk given the caveat that they find someone else who could get the "dirty yards," because I do not believe that guy is presently on the roster unless one of the undrafted free agent's turns out to be a monster, which is at the very least, given a historical comparison, doubtful.

At the moment, I think the coaches to the best of their ability are spouting off the company line. But there are nuggets here and there that are telling. I think the coaching staff at this point is hoping one of the running back ceases their opportunity to shine. Outside of hope, though, I see very little belief in anything the coaches are saying. If they believed in their stable of backs, they would say something to the effect of "the Cowboys fandom and national experts/pundits/media alike are in for a big surprise come August."

On DC.com today Dennis & Broaddus discussed the RB situation and their perceived need for a "Bellcow" RB for this year's season. Dennis listed several teams: (Miami, New Orleans, Kansas City, etc.) where the Boy's might be willing to trade Leary for a second RB on a team needing a starting offensive lineman. I will let you speculate on the names involved but Broaddus did disclose that the team is developing a scenario for
later this summer which would make a trade to get a DeMarco type runner. He said there are lots of
internal discussions about which player would make most sense and fits their need profile.
None of the choices were AP...

Those guys have been known to make up stories. Is Broaddus still claiming Marinelli is going to Tampa?

That should add some good value if we were to trade him though. 1-2 risk free, cheap years of a good OG would be worth it for several of these teams. I think particularly Miami with Miller. Of the RBs listed, he's the only one I'd give up Leary straight up for, while I'd only do a 5th for D. Martin.

True.

Exactly.

That's not going to happen.

Last year of his contract. If we can get him for a 4th get carr to take a pay cut we will be fine. use him this season and draft RB next season. You really are against paying a RB arent you? You realize its not your money right ?

LOL!

I'm against paying an excess.

If the Cowboys wanted to pay a lot to a back they certainly had a chance.

And if they didn't belly-up to the bar to pay Murray, I highly doubt they would pay any back big money.

I don't get why people seem so eager to get rid of quality depth.
Well, if you can trade quality depth for an upgrade at a really important position, it makes sense.

That said, I do love the depth that Leary provides and... I'm leery of trading Leary.
