MONTREAL BOY said:You guys and girls buzz me out Michael Irvin is a god for you after all the problems with drugs and hookers he had to deal with and eveyone loves him but a guy like Owens who wants to win and wants to get paid what he is due is no good give me a break. I think what you guys are is jealous of someone thats a phenominal athlete and a winner so i hope Jerry signs him so we could win a SUPERBOWL. No disrespect att.

San Fran was on its way down without Owens' help. He wasn't on their team the last two years and they stunk.
Owens was great in 2004, no problems at all.
2005 was a bad year, no doubt, I blame much of that on TO, but also on his agent and ESPN...it was a circus.
McNabb's poor play and injuries were the reason that the Eagles sucked in 2005.
I think Owens needs the Cowboys even more than the Cowboys need him. The young man needs to get his life back on track and Big Bill is the one that can help. Just ask Brian Cox.
Dont forget, that was a contract that his own agent advised him against signing. TO was like, nah, I know what I am doing. When you ignore the advise of your own agent, why are you crying to america that lifes not fair.fiveandcounting said:First of all saying people are funny and jealous is a little disrespectful despite your disclaimer at the end. Second you are doing a heck of alot of generalizing, e.g. all TO haters think Irvin is a god. The only problem I recall Irvin with hookers is being caught at a party where there were hookers (or dancers or whatever), and also saying he liked to go to strip clubs. Also Irvin had already been a great Cowboy by that time. And you are suggesting that to compare TO to Irvin is to compare two people as human beings, as to their morals or something, when that is not the question at all. Cowboy fans hating of TO has alot to do with being Cowboys fans. A big part of having strong feelings for or against a player for a sports fan is about being a fan and not some removed objective analysis as you suggest. Irvin did some stupid and somewhat immoral things and he was an *** for it and his image is tarnished.
TO is an *** in completely different ways and as an opposing player who has mocked this organization and acted like the biggest narcissist I have even seen I can say I hate him and dont want him on my team. As far as him trying to get the money he deserves, he demanded a trade from the 49ers and signed a contract and then one year later cries about it. Your post is the thing that is laughable Montreal Boy.

YoMick said:I would like to add. Look at the positives he was for 49ers and Eagles
49ers - he made that catch against Green Bay and catapulted them to next round. HE IS A PLAYMAKER.
Eagles - he comes back to play in SB and has 9 catches for 122 yards. I
IMO he did his part and those teams did not. Especially McNabb with his 3? INT's in SB.
Who da man? No $100 million McNabb?

The Niners got where they are because of cap issues and not having a good draft in ages.
The Eagles went to the SB thier first year with Owens on the team. They had a bad year last year because McNabb got hurt and their defense took a big step backward, not just because TO decide to run his mouth.
Yeah, he's a jackass, but he's not solely responsible for the 'destruction' of two franchises, or even majorly responsible. He just left both of them with a lot of noise.
JackMagist said:For me it means that I will not buy any Cowboys merchandise, tickets or anything else that goes toward the Cowboys as long as he is on the team. It is probably a meaningless gesture but it will be my stand. I know that they will never notice the loss of the patronage of one fan but if I am not the only one to feel that way they may notice a drop off in revenue while he is around.

CaptainAmerica said:Someone please explain for me what the term "Disgraced the Star" means.
Running out and slamming a football on our midfield emblem apparently is "Disgracing the Star", but Irvin's ILLEGAL (as in, you can go to State Prison for a very long time), cocaine binges and prostitutes at a local motel, (that by the way seriously damaged our hopes of repeating in '96), apparently doesn't qualify, because there aren't many posters on here who said they "lost respect" for the Boys because they kept Irvin on the team.
This is not a slam on Irvin, (he's one of my all-time favorites), it's just to show the utter nonsense of the term "Disgraced the Star" when it applies to T.O. slamming the ball on the Star at midfield, at a time he played for our arch-rival.
If you want to hate on T.O. for what he did this past season, that's fair game. But to say you have "no respect for the Cowboys anymore" if they take T.O. because he slammed a ball on the Star, is ridiculous.
The NFL is a business and the object is to win. If Parcells and Jerry think T.O. will help us win, they will try and get him.
