I'd prefer to pay Flozell. While I agree we need to seek an eventual replacement for him I dont think it should be this year, we're too close and he's too valuable. Our superbowl dreams went down when Flozell did.

perfectly said .

My mini rant:

Truth is the salary cap has forced us fans to hate certain players not because they sucked or they lost a game for us or any of the real reasons you hate or want a guy gone (like in the the mid nineties and earlier)But because of what they make . which sucks. The salary cap turned all of us into expert GM's and capologists ;) and we started using a guy's cap number and not how good he is or how important he is for a reason to hate him , want him dead or just plain kicked to the curb.

I'm NOT pointing fingers to anyone who thinks we should cut flozell because i do agree with the consensus , We have to find a replacement at some point for him but from a fans point of view because this is a uncapped year like the good old day's no one fan can say we should cut him because of what he makes.

Keep Flo but let him and Free battle it out in camp for the starting job.

However I still want to draft a LT.

I think it would be a mistake to move on without at least making Free earn the job in camp. But, I still maintain that Flozell Adams is the most under-appreciated player on this team. I think the fans have just gotten so used to him shutting down the other teams best pass rusher without help that they have forgotten just how hard it is to find somebody who can do that.

I know the penalties are annoying, but there's a reason every head coach in Dallas since Tui retired has been willing to put up with them. The guy is great at what he does. He may be slipping, but until the future is more secure I think it would be a huge mistake to give up on him.

Couldn't agree with you more. There is no cap this year. Why weaken yourself unnecessarily? Would be a terrible move at this point.

Man, I hope not. That workout warrior looks like "fools gold" to me.

I'm not advocating. Just saying it might be a route they chose if they feel like they have time to groom him.

Cowboys | May discuss releasing Adams
Fri, 05 Mar 2010 16:12:42 -0800

Clarence E. Hill Jr., of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has acknowledged that the team will discuss releasing OT Flozell Adams because of his age, injury history and contract status.
What moves Adams from "very good" to "great" has been his remarkable health over his career.

I want to agree with you but I feel like I would need to bathe if I did.

This would be beyond stupid, in my opinion. Why make our team thinner and put our QB at risk by toying around with left tackle? Flozell was solid overall last year and better than many starting LTs in the league. He pisses me off just as much as the next guy, but our OL is thin and Free has proven nothing at LT. This would be a major mistake. Flozell has done a very good job against many top DE's. Wait until next year if we have someone better AND a capable backup.

My thoughts exactly.

Well put.

Cutting him would be in order to save cap space...there is no cap this year so why bother. Jerry has the dough.

Free cannot beat Flo out. But Free deserves a good long look at LT this preseason against first team defenses. Flo only needs enough work to make the coaches feel safe with him.

There are up to 8 OTs who could go in the first round plus Iupati. We should be able to draft a LT in this draft if we wish.

I like that idea too.

Question: If Free wins, does Jerry keep Adams on the roster?

(It'd be safer to keep Adams on the bench, but I gotta believe Jerry would find it difficult to pay starting LT money to a backup).
