Flo is on the downside and the slope will only getter steeper next year.

you can't release Adams without adding another quality tackle. If Adams is released that leaves Free and Columbo with absolutely no depth.

This logic makes sense normally, except if Flo starts to really deterioate next year does anyone have any confidence that marshmellow will sit his *** down? Based on the handling of Colombo/RW this year I certainly don't.

They may discuss it, but I kind of doubt they do it. Then again, if they feel Free can handle the job it saves a ton of cash.

I for one am for the move. I think you have to start Free somewhere next year and I don't think Colombo or Adams will take to the bench well. So if both of those statements are true the question becomes who to release between the veteran tackles. I think Adams is the right answer.

Obviously this takes a major swipe at depth which means you need a heavy emphasis on the line in the draft. But then everyone pretty much knew this was a foregone conclusion anyway.

This would be beyond stupid, in my opinion. Why make our team thinner and put our QB at risk by toying around with left tackle? Flozell was solid overall last year and better than many starting LTs in the league. He pisses me off just as much as the next guy, but our OL is thin and Free has proven nothing at LT. This would be a major mistake. Flozell has done a very good job against many top DE's. Wait until next year if we have someone better AND a capable backup.

Very well put BIGDen. Plus Flozell did dramatically cut down on the false starts during the second half of the season. Dallas OL played well when they had to insert Free at RT after Colombo went down. I don't think Jones wants to do anything but tweak the OL for next season's run. I believe Dallas tries to find a guard or the best quality lineman at one of their draft spots, but not to go in and replace anybody starting currently. I also believe you are going to see the most moving and tweaking for the Dallas OL during TC... well after we see what we picked up via the draft.

Toughest position besides QB to fill. We would be stupid to release him as thin as we are at OT.

Also, he wouldn't be on the street long. A lot of teams would love to take his couple false starts a game to have a big ole vet left OT who plays at a pretty high level.

cut Proctor
cut Holland
cut McQuistan
Bench Colombo
Bench Kozier

Why don't the Cowboys start there?

Adams is still better than all those guys.

Start Doug Free at RT in 2010.

Keep Adams at LT. (Draft two tackles and hope to hit on one and hope they don't get hurt in camp. If Free moves to LT, you still need a starting quality RT, imho. I think Colombo can be upgraded, and if Free plays LT, 2010 needs to be Colombo's last year, imo.

Draft Pouncy (G/C; from Florida) to replace Kozier at starting LG and take Proctor's spot.
