I haven't seen anything that shows what all of his options are.

What are you talking about? He has no options. He's hoping to stay in the league by signing a vet minimum deal. But hasn't found a taker yet.

what the hell?

Sounds like he's a speed-dial option if none of the young guys step up and fill the reserve slot cb position.

Anthony Brown, a 6th round rookie, is currently running 1st team slot cb. It'd be great if he shows he's capable, but it's not a bad idea to have a plan B.

Wouldn't Brown be plan B to Scandrick?

They now have Boykin and Leon Hall on speed dial in case they need a vet down the road.

Brown apparently is the plan B to Scandrick. I'm talking about the plan B to Brown.

Oh, so plan C. I think that will end up being Terrance Mitchell.

Scandrick should see most of the Nickle snaps, so we're just looking for the best depth.

Fine, but either could sign elsewhere at any time. What's the harm in signing one for insurance, evaluating them in camp, and releasing them if they are not needed. That's life for a vet NFL player who is currently unemployed at this point in the process.

I haven't seen anything that shows what all of his options are.

That's because he doesn't have any except to sit and wait and sign the 1st contract that someone puts in front of him. Oh, wait, there is a 2nd option. Retire!

Not that the letters matter but if you want to be a stickler, Boykin looks like plan B for the reserve slot cb position, which is what I was referring to.

I agree with the rest of your post. Mitchell could very well be that guy.

How do you know that he had no options? Did his agent exclusively report that to you? Just because the Cowboys didn't offer him doesn't mean that he wasn't presented with other options from other teams. Players have other things important to them that influence their decision not just the pay check.

So you got nothing?

If that's your response to what I said, then it's you who has nothing sir. Your deflection is duly noted.

You are the one who wants to pretend the guy has other options. He doesn't, he wants to play in the league. He wants to sign now. He's even willing to play for the minimum --ex. contract with panthers. The guy clearly has no options.

Still confused about why Boykin isn't signed. Dude's only 25. There's speculation about a degenerative hip condition, but signing him to a short term contract would really shore up our CB position.

If he has a chronic problem then signing him opens up a can of worms in terms of releasing him with an injury settlement etc. I would either pass him on his physical and sign him short term or flunk him and stay away from here to eternity. My guess is the reason he's not being picked up is no one is desperate enough to sign him because he DOES HAVE a serious problem. Just a guess but it appears to be a reasonable one right now.

They might be waiting on all the evidence but if I'm his agent then once they sign a release they get it all: operative notes, opinions from second etc sources, and video of the arthroscopy as well as a release to talk to the surgeon of record. That's an overnite and a phone call away.

I don't think Nickle corner is a huge need, so really no need to freak out if we pass, or wait, on this depth guy.

I am not pretending he has more options or not. I clearly don't know. Neither do you. You are the only one claiming to know something.
