None of the Billionaires are “fair” to the Millionaires, boo-hoo…….Dez and the entire sports media look at business through the eyes of a child

overpay Lamar, overlay Deshaun, overpay Saquon……the list goes on and on
Is it overpaying when you pay the market rate?

It'd be hilarious if the owners were like, "we're willing to guarantee all contracts, but we want positional maximums and overall contract maximums to adhere to the current annual revenue split"

Let's see how quick the NLFPA shoots that down when single contracts worth hundreds of millions are removed from the equation.

That is capitalism my friend. Billionaires have to invest billions to own the team. They own the game and the players are employees who have contracts. No athlete has to play NFL football. They could work at Taco Bell like millions of other people.
Sorry this is not standard capitalism. The NFL is only allowed to exist through the CBA, a contract, and must abide by it. The reason they are not allowed to act independent a CBA is because said collusion is illegal.

You're just giving the NFL a pass for dishonoring their contract.

It's not going to happen to test so this is pretty gratuitous.

Of course it's not going to happen. I just think the ensuing conversation would be pretty funny and have an obvious outcome.
The NFL owners are never going to be the one to propose guaranteed contracts.

The NBA doesn't have positional caps but they do have the max contract that acts much like you describe. I don't really see the negotiations being hard if the owners made such a huge concession.

the TOP market rate should only be applied to top complete players.

If it’s a corner that can shut down receivers AND tackle at a high level AND is a ball hawk, he should set that rate…..but if its a CB that is not all that he should be paid commensurate with that level…..despite what the sports media cries for

Signing Diggs is going to be a big mistake. The guy is not a well rounded corner, as he runs away from tackles.

Diggs value is hard to figure out at this point. The team will have a better idea after this season as team's will start to throw his way more with Brown no longer the starter opposite him. I think we are headed down that franchise tag next season with Diggs.

They should all have guaranteed contracts.
There's only one thing missing in that suggestion....... incentive.
If a player receives a large guaranteed sum of money, it reduces the incentive needed to produce full effort.
That's the one thing many seem to forget when it comes to large guaranteed salaries, the lack of incentive.

Cowboys BREAKING: Dallas Opens Trevon Diggs Contract Talks - Source; $81 Million CB?

Cowboys 'Not Fair' In Diggs Contract Talks? CB Wants 'Guaranteed' Deal?

Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant reveals he has talked with cornerback Trevon Diggs through Diggs' extension talks with the team, and gave his thoughts on the situation

In this story:

Dallas Cowboys

DALLAS COWBOYS
The Dallas Cowboys have several key players due for new deals soon, with one of them being star corner Trevon Diggs.
Diggs and the Cowboys began extension talks in early June, as CowboysSI.com was first to report. But it's been relatively quiet since then. That is until former Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant decided to chime in.
Since exiting football a few years ago, Bryant has been very vocal about issues around the NFL and especially his beloved former team. It turns out that Bryant has been talking with Diggs throughout the corner's extension talks, and he revealed where they stand right now. Notably, Bryant had an interesting comment on how the Cowboys are handling the negotiations.

"I'll say this, he is not trying to knock them across the head, I will say that," Dez said via his Personal Corner Spaces. "And I will say they're not trying to be fair to him. And I feel like what he's asking for, he is rightfully deserving of that contract. You know, I believe it should all be guaranteed."
I'll take whatever they've offered him. Just know Boss Man will be starting for me because of my asthma and arthritis.
