If my assertion is incorrect than you have beef with the talking heads at BSPN and Fox sports that have shown evidence of RBs declining during their 2nd contract

whats even funnier is that these same shills for the players show that graph and than turn right around and say “ just pay the man” and other immature catch phrases

Just to be clear, I personally don’t care what any player gets paid but I do understand that positions like RB can be done through “committee “ which lessens their value , unlike a Qb that stands alone.

I don’t have any skin in the game, I just understand that the pie is only so large

I find that individuals that can’t understand this concept are more apt to be the ones that don’t budget or plan financially beyond the next paycheck…..and that’s ok, it takes all kinds to make the world go round:)
It's all good man.

They definitely fall off a cliff around 28. My contention is that which contract, first or second, misses the dynamic. It has nothing to do with the contract and everything to do with the age.

A typical second contract, 4years + 4 years, sees a player play their last season of said contract at age 28.

Another dynamic to consider is that RB who get 300+ carries multiple years in a row almost never sustain. They ran Zeke into the ground.

Base salaries for every position & then pay for performance based on the zillion metrics available. Everyone gets what they deserve for what they did in any given year. A portion of the salary buys insurance policy.
true and all the cap paid out each year.
The thing is the players, the stars would not like this, and the players union would never go for it.

dez probably needs to stay out this and let the player and team handle it
"I can say" that dez just threw a wrench in the wheel.
I dont think diggs is worth a big contract or all G, but they do need to get him signed or trade him for some good picks.
Players today get amounts in their head without any regard to the team, or if the team can pay that much.
It is all about what they want, then if they get their deal they talk about winning and SB's.

Also diggs is not a favorite of the jones boys like lamb, parsons, and dak, and previously elliot. He should realize that but evidently not.

If contracts are going to be all guaranteed than the total contract value should just be brought down to reflect that. Would an NFL player prefer a 100 million contract with 60% guaranteed or a 60 million contract with all of it guaranteed? I don't think you can have it both ways.

$$$ has been a factor for a long time for athletes, but in this era, it seems for most it has shifted to the single most important thing. Most people in life never sign a guaranteed contract with a company beyond a sign on bonus for meeting specific requirements. I get the risk of playing sports, but there are many professions that take on more risk for a fraction of am NFL player.
Here's the disconnect, people pay to see entertainment, be it movies, music, or sports. But people don't pay to see you work.

They know very well what Jerry paid Dak and Zeke.
From Martin to Diggs etc
Jerry going away present will be cap bankrupting us to assure another decade of non-glory.

would you rather be overpaid or underrated, sounds like you look through it through the eyes of a jealous man
Some of 'em are both overpaid and overrated. LOL
You can't overpay everybody on the team. That's not jealousy, it's math vs salary cap.
Get rid of the salary cap and problem solved.

You know, I believe it should all be guaranteed.

I'm not opposed to football going this way. Get rid of restructuring and have consistent cap hits.
Maybe it would prevent teams from going full stupid. Or if they did, they would hamstring their team for years.
When all future NFL games become PPV you will my friend. Then you will see all the "little pigs" squeal.

So adults take the side of the billionaires. Thanks for the contribution.
That is capitalism my friend. Billionaires have to invest billions to own the team. They own the game and the players are employees who have contracts. No athlete has to play NFL football. They could work at Taco Bell like millions of other people.

Does Diggs fully guarantee his employee's pay?

Guessing his opinion on that would be different. Funny how folks can see one side of the equation but not the other.
THIS! Moreover, can Diggs (or any other player) guarantee his own performance?

There are no guarantees in life, other than it ends at some point.

Cowboys BREAKING: Dallas Opens Trevon Diggs Contract Talks - Source; $81 Million CB?

Cowboys 'Not Fair' In Diggs Contract Talks? CB Wants 'Guaranteed' Deal?

Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant reveals he has talked with cornerback Trevon Diggs through Diggs' extension talks with the team, and gave his thoughts on the situation

In this story:

Dallas Cowboys

DALLAS COWBOYS
The Dallas Cowboys have several key players due for new deals soon, with one of them being star corner Trevon Diggs.
Diggs and the Cowboys began extension talks in early June, as CowboysSI.com was first to report. But it's been relatively quiet since then. That is until former Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant decided to chime in.
Since exiting football a few years ago, Bryant has been very vocal about issues around the NFL and especially his beloved former team. It turns out that Bryant has been talking with Diggs throughout the corner's extension talks, and he revealed where they stand right now. Notably, Bryant had an interesting comment on how the Cowboys are handling the negotiations.

"I'll say this, he is not trying to knock them across the head, I will say that," Dez said via his Personal Corner Spaces. "And I will say they're not trying to be fair to him. And I feel like what he's asking for, he is rightfully deserving of that contract. You know, I believe it should all be guaranteed."
guaranteed deal!> then he has to guarantee that he will make tackles and doesn't whiff. just guarantee that! he has to remember, this is NFL, not FFL (Flag Football league)
