Cowboys offered 22nd pick for Turner...

Did anyone else hear this?? This evening on my way home from work, on the radio they said that Gil Brandt (NFL on Sirius) had confirmed that we offered our 22nd pick straight up to the Chargers for M. Turner, and they turned it down.

I looked around and didn't see it posted on here. Just thought I would pass along.

If that's true then JJ is a moron for offering it and the Chargers are bigger morons for not accepting it.

There isn't a running back in the league who would be starting if he were in Turner's situation. He's a backup because SD has the best guy in the game at his position starting.

That said, the Cowboys sure don't need to worry about trading for him. I wouldn't give a first round pick for him, even if I did need an RB, that's just San Diego trying to squeeze out some blood.

And I sure don't believe Jerry was foolish enough to offer his first rounder for him.

I meant that he would be starting somewhere but none of the teams desperate for a RB were willing to trade for him. No one in the league could beat out Tomlinson for the starting job.

I could see that.

If someone had offerred us a 2nd round pick for JJ, then trading that draft pick for a new starting RB and having 2nd round picks wouldn't have been all that bad.

I really do believe Wade would like to have Turner, as he seen the talent this kid posses everyday going against his SD defense last year....

I have a hard time believing this ...... and I hope we would not have even considered such a thing.

I have my doubts about this on 2 counts.

1. I doubt we made such an offer.

AND

2. I doubt San Diego is stupid enough to turn that down if we did.

No kidding. Considering the Chargers already said they expect to lose Turner next season to free agency. LIES, ALL LIES!

On the Giants site they are reporting it as a 1st and 3rd. An even bigger joke.

ok, this is what i heard, best i remember before the draft, the cowboys had offered to swap their 1st and 3rd pick with the chargers, which would equal to a # 2 draft pick,

a deal was being worked out, again this is before the draft, and the agent, cant remember his name, but he wanted big money like LT was getting, then the cowboys backed out,

and stayed with their picks;

I am glad SD turned it down; I don't want to give up a 1st overall for an unproven back like Turner... he is a garbage-time player who got to see some daylight when he ran. I would rather have Michael Bush than this guy, at least he would cost less.

Turner is unquestionably a better player than Julius (He had twice as many long runs last year with just a third of the carries), but I'd rather hold out to see if we can get McFadden or Slayton next year.

JJ: he is what he is; he also ran behind an overmatched offensive line.

Michael Turner: unproven commodity who was a stat-collecter in garbage time of games already won by LT, also playing behind one of the best left-sides of an offensive line in the past five years.

Lets not compare the two; they don't even have similar styles

this is an "unquestionably" not true

it is easily debatable and so far, Julius Jones has had ALOT more success than Turner has...to argue differently is being pretty lame...has Turner had any 140-150+ yd games? I've seen Jones have SEVERAL now

if you dont like the guy (JuJo) fine, but making statements that Turner is "unquestionably" a better player lacks any substance or proof

I agree not with Meacham sitting there and they need a WR.

thanks

he just looks like thats what he is explaining in that pick

I would have called for Jerry to sell the team if he did that.

And SD would have to be idiots to turn that gift down.
