Really? The difference between a good team and a great one in this league is what? 2-3 good players maybe? Take them away from 13-3 and get 9-7. That’s pretty believable to me. Add them to 7-9 and get 13-3 is a bit more of a stretch, but there’s no denying the Eagles executed with personnel this offseason. They also got much, much better QB play from Wentz.

I don’t find it remotely shocking. How often have we seen teams make big jumps season to season in this league? It’s more the standard than it is the exception. The league relies on parity. That how it’s setup.

Year 8 of Garrett and I still see the same tired excuses. Where are the results and not this "nextseasonchamps" mindset?

You sound like Jerry Jones with this line of thinking. Garrett is one of the worst coaches in this league. No one respects him any longer.

Philly didn't blow anything up. They brought in a smart coaching staff that was able to adapt almost immediately what they had on hand and then made smart decisions in their first full offseason.

They hired a legit coaching staff. If the Cowboys did that, they'd get better results, even with what you think is a flawed roster.

But but but it's a league of parity and we are always so close!! Just let Garrett have about 10 more years and we might make it past the divisional round. It's a process guys. The league is full of parity (it really isn't) and one year, we might hit the lottery.

Of the coaches that have been here, how many went on to great success as HCs after they left Dallas?

Zero. Switzer and Parcells were old and at the end of their runs, the others never amounted to much as head coaches.

The problem isn't necessarily that Jerry is bad at personnel, the bigger issue is Jerry just sucks at hiring head coaches and staffs.

Don't be silly, your boy Garrett hires the staff. JJ just approves or disapproves of the hire. C'mon surely you don't give JG a pass on hiring the coaching staff (a HC's responsibility) and hold him accountable for everything else. You are a master debater but you spin in circles some times

We had more than 'a key personnel loss' going on this season.

So did Philly. How they doing this season losing their QB, MLB, LT and then a variety of other key injuries during the season like their best CB? Oh and one of their most dynamic playmakers on offense was out much of the year too in Sproles.

And the season started to unravel as soon as Lee got hurt, where we promptly lost two games at home with him out. So yeah, this season was going sideways long before the injuries/suspensions started to mount.

You really struggle at reading comprehension.

First of all, Garrett isn't my boy. Second of all, Garrett has hired some of his staff but Jerry has also hired staff before too. Monte Kiffin, ring a bell? Third, my point still stands, Jerry has done a poor job hiring coaches.

I'd say it went sideways after zeke got suspended and Tyron went down. Weren't we 5-3 at that point. One mans reason is another mans excuse

An awesome blast from the past! Thanks for sharing that clip. It's great to watch Jerry squirm when he's caught dead to Rights.

I love watching old clips from that era.

@yimyammer @theebs do you guys by chance have the Jerry postgame PC from the Packers '10 game? DC.com took the video down. I swear I thought Jerry was going to punch Timmy Mac in the face, never seen him so mad.

You really struggle with sarcasm don't you. He isn't your boy?. Man, you had me completely fooled. Ah so in your mind JG has hired some, JJ has hired some and you decide who hired who, is that it. I'm not saying JJ didn't hire uncle Monte, I have no idea if he did or didn't, nor does it make a bit of difference. He probably had a hand in Rob Ryan too, GM's kind of oversee things but hopefully don't micro-manage anymore than the HC does

What excuses are you seeing? I'm saying the issue is personnel and not coaching. I'm not making excuses for the coaching.

I could just as easily say I'm seeing you guys make the same excuses for the defensive personnel being inadequate and that I'm tired of the 'nextseasonchamps' mindset as a result. Stop giving them passes for taking fliers on guys like Jaylon Smith and Randy Gregory. Stop making excuses for overdrafting the RB position when you had the draft capital to fix what's actually causing us to lose football games.

I'm not arguing that the team is better than it actually is. I'm saying my diagnosis of what needs to be fixed is different from yours.

I'm sure we'll find time to get back into this debate a bit in the offseason. But for the record, I do like the back and forth, and the fact that you always keep it cool. We can disagree without being disagreeable, which isn't always easy to do.

And for what it's worth, I hate that we're watching the Eagles in the Superbowl as much as any of you guys do. It does totally suck.

We were 2-1 with two winnable home games that we lost when Lee went out. 2-3 after that. Lee came back, they won the next 3.

It blows that they are in the SB. But what makes it worse for me is that I believe they have overcome issues that we've seen as excuses for the Cowboys failures.

They absolutely have. And that's been pointed out repeatedly. You and I both did it numerous times during the season when fans wanted to use injuries as the "get out of jail free" card excuse for a disappointing season. And then again when company shill Mickey Spagnola took it even one step further and tried to use just Tyron Smith's injuries as the excuse.

But what we've been saying has played itself out as fact. The Eagles have passed this team like we were standing still, or, in fact, going in reverse. And that's just what we did this season. We went backwards while they made vast improvements.

Unfortunately not but I've learned to start capturing videos on my computer with software that lets me keep my own copy before the censors kill it. Hopefully I won't miss anything important going forward
