Twitter: Cowboys open as 9.5 point favorites against Tampa Bay

Odd. The Bucs have been in every game. Only their first game was decided by more than a score, and it was close until the end.

Edit: I’m wrong. Their first game was one score as well.

Makes sense since Baker Mayfield is out. He would carve up the secondary better than Houston did

Thursday night games are always strange games. The short week somehow levels the playing field between the two teams playing that night.

Bad teams generally make the TNF games competitive. These games recently rarely play out how folks expect.

Dallas better not believe the "press clippings" or the Vegas line. They are a 2-2 team, barely. They have no right to over look any team. They better handle their business on Thursday night, no matter the spread.

How much of that 9.5 is there because it's a short week and we're at home? Being at home on a short week is worth about 6 points, right?
100%

And TB being down their starting QB is a huge factor as well.

Hopefully we get some injured guys back this week and ride the momentum from yesterday’s victory to a big W on Thursday

Dallas in the past have been victims to their own press clippings and TNF is weird. I just want an ugly win, or a pretty win IDC, and then enjoy the mini bye and get rested up.

I’m a little nervous about this game due to playing in Rio, then Houston and then a short week. I’m looking forward to the rest after the game to get healthy but this scares me. It helps they are also beat up as well.

The Cowboys must not be overly inclined to allow the 9.5 spread in their favor let them "eat the cheese." We should be sure to play our best at home to allow ourselves an opportunity to have a reasonably decent shot at winning. In other words, a challenge of some sort will most likely exist. Tampa's backup QB is capable of doing damage with his legs, so he must be controlled.

We are still vulnerable on defense but capable of surprising any team with serious QB issues. Tampa fits that bill with Baker Mayfield being out and our guys playing at home. They have talent capable of presenting legitimate competition, though. Our chances are good, as long as we're ready to "put our best foot forward" at home. In other words, it's a game that can't be taken for granted.
