N Jones acknowledged that Garrett’s staff could change, though, as four assistant coaches’ contracts expire (Twitter link via Williams). Whether those changes happen will be up to Garrett, who Jones says is “the ultimate-decision maker” when it comes to the coaching staff (Twitter link via Fox Sports’ Matt Mosley).

For those keeping score at home, this comment is specifically set up so that any sacrificial scapegoats are NOT the result of Jerry shifting blame, but completely and totally the decision of the "ultimate decision maker" who had offensive playcalling pulled from him a year ago.

Wow..........bragging about being barely above 500

Just sad how far this franchise has fallen

He didn't actually say that. I was just making fun of Jerry. Like something he would say trying to convince everyone he's doing a good job as a GM. But I do agree this franchise has fallen.

Not surprisingly, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed Sunday that Jason Garrett will return in 2016 for his seventh season as the team’s head coach. “Let me be real clear: There’s no thought of replacing Jason. At all,” Jones said, according to Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (Twitter link). Jones acknowledged that Garrett’s staff could change, though, as four assistant coaches’ contracts exppire (Twitter link via Williams). Whether those changes happen will be up to Garrett, who Jones says is “the ultimate-decision maker” when it comes to the coaching staff (Twitter link via Fox Sports’ Matt Mosley).

Of course it's the first thing he addresses, because he knows 'everybody' and 'you guys' know Garrett sucks..

Of course it's Garrett's decision, which is why we are the Miami Dolphins under Saban now and suck..

You were 12-4 at this time last yr, quit bellyaching.

You lost your qb and your favorite stud! Look how much GB misses Nelson, if they lost Rodgers as well, they would've had as equally as bad a season.

LOL

If Sean Payton were to become available, I'd certainly be thinking about it.

Especially considering the prospect of having to deal with Payton ending up in Philadelphia.

I am kind of hoping, as long as Jerry decides to stay with the Garrett, guys like Payton end up coming to the NFC East to smash our team as a cosmic punishment for what Jerry has subjected us to with the Red-Headed clown and his father..

What has he done lately?

In case you didnt notice, we just went 4-12. But maybe you should just trot on over to the main board. Plenty of low standard, pom pom waving cheerleaders you can bleat with about the great Jason Garrett and his wonderful process. And no doubt they will all agree that we are going to the SB next year.

This side is reserved for realistic, educated, die hard fans of the Dallas Cowboys that dont prefer losing.

With Rodgers, they make the playoffs every year.. With Romo and Dez, Garrett has made the playoffs once..

I would love to see someone else in charge, that doesn't mean he deserves firing after he lost his 3 best players from the prior season, and he still had his team in position to win most of there games w the lousiest qb play you will ever see!

I'm a fare man: He deserves one more year

You have to remember: this entire staff got new contracts starting this season, you want find many owners or GM who would replace an entire staff one year later.

You wouldn't have found many owners of GMs who would have given Garrett the HC job the way Jerry did, while acknowledging he was a HC in training, keep him around this long, or guarantee him a 5 year 25 million dollar contract after 1 season...

Jerry just said the NFL has made it teams are .500 as an excuse for his performance. But he's thinking in his mind with the return of Romo, 12-4 will be repeated again...

This guy is delusional.. We had to come back in our first two games with Romo...

It says a lot to me that despite mediocre to downright awful coaching in the rest of tge division, the Cowboys still managed last place. Worst of the worst is quite a accomplishment.

Even Campo never managed 12 losses.

I meant fare. When you're rolling out the lousy Matt Cassel and then Moore, you better believe I'll respect a guy who gives me a chance in 4th qbr. Too bad for Jason neither qb could make a play when one was desperately needed.

Jason made mistakes w Weeden

Jason's alleged claim to fame is QB coaching. The guys that were brought here were his. He even sucks at the job.

The guy is the prototypical guy who is book smart, which is why his PCs are the way they are. And Which is why he gets abused on a regular on game day...

What if goes 11-5. Tony and Dez back. Draft a runner. Selecting at the top of each round. Last place schedule. No real expectations. Jason in do or die year: sounds like a scenario this team thrives in!!

Thrives? They failed to make the playoffs three years in a row against NFC East opponents...

Since when does thrive constitute one season?

I don't get why Jerry has to even say this nonsense now?? Just let him sweat it out overnight at least to keep the guy in check at least. Jerry never shuts up!

Jason's probably in his bed..

In my mind, I think Jerry told Garrett to tank and he listened. Jerry is not going to get rid of a perennial butt kisser.

Then explain the fake punt and onside kick..

I'm beginning to think the only reason Jason lost that part of the job was because Romo was getting to the point of enough is enough.. 2013 Romo and Witten were yelling at Garrett on the sideline the year he took back the headset and moved Wilson to the booth..

Otherwise, Jerry would have allowed Garrett to do what he does..

I remember when Mike Zimmer wasn't good enough for some in cowboyszone.

Mike Zimmer had multiple years of coaching under his belt, while Garrett was gifted a job way over his head after two years of QB coaching a guy like Frerotte, an over a decade plus veteran in the league...

Your analogies are awful..
