How does that make you nervous? It's the same scenario as in 2004.

The mindset that he is putting out that there we dont need help. I think we need all our picks and this team needs help.

He has said about 5 times now that he feels like the team can lineup and win now, and that strikes me as very short sighted.

NOw in 08 if we have two 1's that would be fabulous. If we got another 2 this year, and 1 next year, then I would be applauding.

I am just nervous with the overall tone of not needing much. I see it differently.

Jerry couldn't possibly be revealing his TRUE hand this early could he? Maybe he's generating interest (publically) with possible trading partners? Just seems odd that he's this forthright with this type of info.

yeah thats the way I took it too, Jerry is making me nervous.

But he also said that trading out of the first round would probably cost us a good player that could come in and start this year, which he thought we could get if we stayed where we are.

I thought it was a little interesting that he talked about how he wished he'd bundled picks to move up and get an impact player back when we had the Super Bowl teams. He admitted that trading back didn't work.

I was a little surprised that he referenced any particular players, like Merriweather.

BTW theebs, just saw your later post, and I took it just the opposite way trading with the way our team is now made up. Jerry said this was the team with the fewest holes we've had since the late 90s, and back then he wished he'd moved up for one or two players. IMO he's thinking that we're close to the same scenario now where a bunch of second rounders wouldn't really add that much. So maybe he's thinking of moving up this year.

Oh well, it's a tale told by an idiot, signifying nothing, but it's still kind of fun on a slow news day. :)

We were a botched snap away from a divisional play-off game. Jerry has a point. We can't reduce the entire season down to the the defensive collapse in December.

Folks we've got a good team. Good engines don't need overhauling, just little tweaking.

I see. I don't fault Jerry for his thinking. The 'boys were real close last year despite the late season collapse. And if the NFC is as weak as it was last year, then they most definitely can make a run.

And then it also depends on what you think the team needs so much that it's going to put them over the hump for 2007. I don't know that they anyone outside of the 1st rd pick will be able to truly make an impact on this team in '07.

This just in. Jerry has traded our next 3 first round draft choices along with 2 second rounds for the right to trade Juilus Jones for a sixth round pick. He claims this trade is the second coming of the Herschel Walker to Minny trade.

It sounded to me like he was laying ground work for his suggestion of possibly trading up... ie, the team is pretty solid so it may be a better idea to trade up and get one impact player than to stay at 22 (where the talent has leveled out) or trade down for more picks that would come in as backups. He went on to say that that is a lot easier to do with two #1's. That gives 2 scenario's under that line of thinking: 1) Trade up this year to grab an impact guy, sacrificing picks; or 2) Trade out of the first round this year to get a second #1 next year.

If he can't trade up for Peterson this year, he'll trade our #1 for a #2 and a #1 next year.
Then next year, he will trade both #1's for Darren McFadden.

I really doubt that Peterson would drop that far, but if he got to 15 its certainly possible that Jerrah would try- BUT then so would several OTHER teams as well.
Really, who in this draft would make such a HUGE impact this year that we could get without having to go? Peterson possibly, but.......
A thought is only one: GINN.

He DID say that he has had Lacewell and Switzer looking at guys for the past 5-6 years.

Still....

They asked him if Bill knew about that.

Funny exchange. Jerry grinned like crazy, laughed, and then said "Bill was the football coach, not the personnel guy."

Funny stuff.

Mind your own business. I was not talking to you.

Your post was not addressed to anyone, not in Dear Abby form. Just trying to help.
