I don't dispute that but mgt did not have the benefit of hindsight during the off-season, so I would have preferred either the Michael trade or a drafted rb for the sake of covering our bases. I also believe that Murray was too expensive and had to be let go.

Yes they obviously want him, but how badly know one knows. They had Turbin, Fred Jackson, and Michael at one point. The point I'm trying to make is you don't know if they would have traded an UFA for a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, or 7th round pick.

Why? His fumble rate the past 5 years is 1 in 164 touches. His fumble rate the past 4 years is 1 in 172 touches. That is a great rate that continued to get better.

Murray's fumble rate in 2014 was 1 in 89 touches.

Teams don't trade away player that they want to keep unless another team drastically overpays to make the trade appealing. Teams top goal is to win, not to pile up draft picks. This is especially true for team that was just in the Super Bowl last season.

In other words, the only way the Cowboys could have traded for Rawls was to drastically overpay in draft pick compensation.

They dumped Michael and Turbin because the liked Rawls better.

The Cowboys didn't draft Rawls. Was his 30 carries in the preseason somehow so great that they suddenly thought they should trade a 2nd round pick for a guy that they didn't use a 7th on in the draft?

The main reason we are struggling on offense is our 3rd down conversion rate.

Last season we were 2nd in the NFL, this year we are 22nd.

Converting on 3rd down keeps the defense defeated. It extends drives and leads to scores.
Romo is the master on 3rd down and would change the plays at the line and always knew where the hot read was. We just don't have that with him out.

I do have a possible theory. The Seahawks pay Lynch 10-12m per year. He is about to retire.
The Cowboys have made it known that they don't value the RB position enough to pay a real salary to a RB.

I can see why a young back would hesitate to come to Dallas.

Although on the other hand an undrafted player should be lucky to just make the team.
